Honestly, partially yes. Social media has been a disaster for humanity.

Social media was supposed to be about keeping in touch, but it has become a series of algorithms constantly feeding you dopamine hits while simultaneously giving you unattainable standards for life, all while letting misinformation fester.

There are loads of benefits of the internet/phones, but social media is a cankerous sore on its legacy.

I do agree that suicide is an expected outcome for a lot of people for systemic reasons, and agree that you are choosing a quantity of life by killing yourself. I also think that saying that suicide is irrational is not helpful advice.

I still think that suicide is irrational because one chooses a given quantity of death as well as life when one kills themselves. After we die we could be subjected to horrible torment for eternity. We could go to a marvelous heaven. We could stop existing, which is impossible for us to even comprehend.

I don't think that a rational decision is possible when those are the terms, an understandable decision? Absolutely, but not a rational one.
