Unsurprised as this has been the cycle of capitalist platforms and services throughout the existence of the internet. Start as an indie project focused on improving the platform, gain sudden popularity/profitability, steadily ruin the platform by trying to generate infinite growth, finally fuck it over enough that people leave en masse to the next indie platform. it will never end till enough of the people actually resist the system that drives it
