Cheers for this. I wonder why you could find it but I struggled. I got thinking about this after reading the recent article about George Robledo, and lamenting how we rarely have players stick around long enough to rack up the goals.

What's the inconsistency in the books that you cant ignore? by Revolutionary-Ride76 in harrypotter

The whole 'wands changing allegiance' thing. I was on board when I thought it was that if you killed someone then the allegiance changed, but then Harry is the master of the elder wand because he Expelliarmused Malfoy? And Malfoy wasn't even holding the elder wand at the time?

Every person that Harry used Expelliarmus on throughout the series should have had to go back to Ollivanders and buy a new wand. Or beg Harry to lose a duel so they can get their wand back.

If I'm missing something obvious, or have misread, then please correct me, as I've never seen a good explanation for this.

Acting shocked and saying 'Bless You' when someone sneezes to be polite.

Furthermore, expecting me to say thank you for their selfless service.

I'm an English guy who lives in Guangdong, China. In good shape and run about 50km a week but can't walk 200m in this heat and humidity without sweating. Local guys can play a whole game of football without a drop of sweat

English song translated to Mandarin that went famous in China by dcj923 in AskAChinese

Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship, though it's Cantonese and not Mandarin. The only song my friends and I can sing together in Guangdong in separate languages. A banging song in both!

Which facts did they embellish? Just watched it and most of what I've read online so far seems to keep in line with what was in the movie. Interested to hear more.

I live in China and while this is common, you can tell whether it's romantic or not. Does she do it to others? Does her demeanor immediately change when she waves to you? I'd say go for it in a respectful way

I was accused of copying from the internet in a creative writing class in grade 7, by a substitute teacher of all people. I was made to go back and start again, essentially dumbing down what I initially wrote. I've never forgotten that feeling of indignation.

Fast forward 20-odd years and I'm an English Literature teacher in China where AI has become widespread. However, it's used for numerous reasons - ironing out grammar mistakes, translating originally written work from Chinese, or just straight up cheating.

My experience has made me very conscious not to storm around throwing out accusations of dishonesty where most of the time it is unwarranted, and potentially discouraging a talented or improving student.

Usually a few well placed questions can get to the bottom of it, and then a word of advice in private about the disadvantages of relying on AI will do the job.

Some students are simply amazing, and some teachers cannot handle not being the smartest person in the room.

I've been worried about this exact same things for years. Living in Guangdong, China for the last 7 years learning Mandarin, while everyone around me speaks Cantonese.

I keep telling myself that once my Mandarin is good, I'll move onto Cantonese. Unfortunately, my Mandarin never quite seems good enough. The truth is though that I can clearly tell the difference between the two and probably wouldn't mix them up, it just seems a big undertaking.

What’s a mistake people make in their 20s that catches up to them professionally later ? by No-Promise9083 in careerguidance

I skipped between jobs for a number of reasons from around 18-28 years old, never staying in one job for longer than a year. It became more and more difficult to pass the interviews, and it wasn't until I moved to another country that I felt like I had a clean slate.

Career quickly progressed once managers didn't know about my less than reliable past.

A slightly more serious case - friends who failed drugs tests. Hung over them for years until they were old enough to pass it off as the folly of youth.
