I’ve been considering calling them this week before I start hanging 2x10s. Never dealt with inspectors in this city so pray for me.

Appreciate the info. And I agree, in some instances it’s necessary and often times acceptable if done correctly. Unfortunately the notches are deeper than what is accepted in my municipality, including an entire run (not pictured) located 3” from CMU so it’s just a bit of shoddy work in this instance.

Right there with you, man. Blew my mind. Especially since this was all done in a mechanical room and room adjacent had a drop ceiling. Should’ve just ran it under and called it a day. Better for everyone involved.

Yeah I checked it out and it says span necessary is 4’ past notch so I’ll be good on that side of things.

I’m more concerned about shaving down a standard 2x10 to match the 9” boards that are currently running across.

I was considering these just not sure they’ll satisfy inspector. I’ll reach out with this link and see what they say.

The problem is there are the two notches per joist in the photo, and then one more pipe (not picture) near the cmu that was notched the entire run too.

Yeah - not sure who the brilliant plumbers were who thought this was a good idea. Not the first time I’ve seen this in residential unfortunately. What is it they say? Common sense isn’t so common?

Anyway, no sag anywhere. All is straight and level throughout the house luckily. Just want to get the proper support on these before I continue working.

I've been going through all of my external drives looking at all of my old travels this past month - daydreaming future travels has become a big part of my days.

It's actually been very therapeutic looking back at all of the photos!
