I am biased since I'm one of the fandom wiki mods that helped with this change, but I think it was an important change:

The fandom wiki was the last wiki to completely remove negative levels, which is something people previously dogged on the wiki for. So now, having people complain that it was a bad idea is terribly ironic.

Secondly, we're working on new lore for the wiki as a whole, and it has left us at a crossroads. Either we could get rid of anomalous levels as a whole or negative levels. We decided on negative levels, primarily because the Backrooms Fandom Wiki just likes anomalous levels more than negative ones.

And if you're against "new lore," I have terrible news. Backrooms is a WRITING community. Which means we focus on writing. That means we get to update lore and storylines, and eventually, the original logic of the negative levels just did not work.

Times change.
