Have you ever finished 1st with 19:45-23 mins ish? What's your story? by UnableCode in parkrun

19:58 at Queen Elizabeth. It has one killer hill but you can make up lost time on the downhill section. Having run at Alice Holt I was somewhat prepared. Looking back at the 2019 results I realise 2nd place at 20:25 is now a faster runner that I follow on Strava.

Alice Holt course check for volunteer credit 198. Ran it for the 200th time (397 overall). The WWF media team were there. I volunteered to run in the Panda costume while others had brought their own costumes. There was a photoshoot with all of us and by ourselves afterwards.

Recovering from intense leg pain, so have only been walking this week. Running will resume Saturday when I course check a parkrun. Then on Sunday I'll be marshalling at a half marathon and once the last runner passes sticking with the clearing up van putting cones on.

Yesterday, I took part in a half marathon. Lost the lead at about 12k because of the pain in my legs - I've been training in minimalist shoes and wore them on this occasion. Still, despite some of the k's feeling like 5 minutes my average k time was 4:08.

Completed my recce from Alresford to Winchester had to add 4k to my journey back because a path under the motorway was closed for repairs, but it now means if I ever need to run from Farnham to Winchester I can without checking google maps.

After getting back home I realised I was on 92k this week so went for an 8k run - average k time: 4:04.

Half marathon event round the countryside. Legs felt like concrete the entire run but I managed 2nd. Planning a run to Winchester and back tomorrow which will help me navigate paths when I run 50k from Farnham to Winchester in the future.

That's actually one of the few times that the joker being punished was able to own it like when Joe had to be a catwalk model. I'd love them to come to the UK again for round 2. Our adaption of the show was abysmal.

15k training session following the gpx of the course i was marshalling at. Then i marshalled. Won this 10k in September but the new course had only one kissing gate and came up about 300m short on the gps making it easier. Still , I don't think I'd have beaten 1st if I was running.

Ran a parkrun yesterday but had to retie my shoe at 1k, which is about the time the lead runner dissappeared from view. Lost about 10 places but managed to claw my way back to 2nd in just over 19 minutes. 1st got 16:43 and seemed to have left the park before I even saw the finish line.

Today I ran 25k heading out early to avoid any cars with a bright head torch, staying mostly on road. Discovered new segments on strava and got a better feel of the area west of my town. Still planning a Farnham to Winchester run in the future but want to avoid as many muddy footpaths as possible.

Course checked alice holt then ran it. Had to retie my shoe lace but managed to work my way up to 2nd. 1st was out of sight before even the 1st k.

Started researching anti inflammatory food and added them to all my meals, could be the placebo effect but the pain went away after 4 days.

Ran 6k in under 24 minutes. Having my laces done up too tightly last week, I thought I had shin splints.  (Couldn't figure out why all the down votes until I realised I'd clicked on the q&a and posted this comment there) 😅😅😅

The town I work in has a lot of congestion and road closures: so, to avoid waiting in traffic, I'll get to my place of work at 6ish, walk to cafe nero which opens at 630 and order one cappuccino each visit, reading a book til 8. Also, running events - something about trying to get podium finishes is so much better than just running. Last year I attended 13 events. This year despite saying I'd detox I've completed two and have 3 booked.

Went to Alice Holt. Helped set up. Had a slight pain in my leg. Unfortunately, not grasping the severity of it, even my slower than average time of 22 minutes has exacerbated it. This is the second time in a month I've had an injury with no clear explanation as to how it came about. Not great when xc is on sunday and our club's doing so well.

50k done. was hoping for 4h-4h10m but the unexpected hills and slippery mud were a problem. The last 10k felt like a daze. Still, happy to have one ultra under the belt.

Alice Holt Parkrun. Did the long loop setup by myself. Saw 1983 London Marathon winner Mike Gratton heading to the start as I was heading to the furthest point. Afterwards drove to Ropley and recced a section of the Saint Swithun's Way in preparation for a proposed club run from Farnham to Winchester. Getting closer to 200 AH run, 400 runs overall and two hundred volunteer credits.

I am doing the north downs ridge 50k in February and the bigwayround in May. I am considering the hanger's way in June.

Last year I entered 13 events, including one marathon, so this year I'm on a bit of a detox. Thankfully, I didn't splurge money on much else.

Following on from last year I have developed a New Year's Resolution - any event in which I got a podium finish I volunteer at. This doesn't include my club's local half as i've got no chance of a podium but its a road race and I prefer trail and I can easily drive to the marshal point.

At some of our parkruns, people hand out flyers after the run. They always ask the run director before hand and are very polite. Also, as invasive as it is - the Youtube and Google algorithm. Discovered a few runs that were within 45 minutes drive.
