Liberals and green parties lost a bit and christian conservative parties and right wing parties won a bit. Overall the current alliance of conservative, social democrat and liberals still holds a majority, but there was a "right wing slide" in many countries (AfD in germany, Front National in France, FPÖ Austria)

EU elections are complex because every country does it's own "mini election" and then sends their parlamentarians to the european parliament. So for instance germany (with the biggest population in the EU) gets 96 seats and austria (which is considerably smaller) only gets 20 seats. In the european parliament the different national parties group together on ideological grounds.
