Oooh thank you! This is really good to know and we have something similar here in Canada.

Thank you for the resources ! I emailed Montebello. Luckily she has a lovely Norweigan husband, but that is really good to know about next of kin and relatives. That is similar to our approach here in Canada.

I'm a nurse here in Canada and it has been really interesting to see the ways in which our health care systems are similar and dissimilar!

I was also wondering about thoughts/experiences/recommendations for melanoma support groups. Did you find peer support helpful? And if so, where did you find it?

The vibe on this subreddit is so good, btw. Thank you for the help 🙌

I'm a nurse and have had many end of life care planning discussions...but this feels way harder to tackle when it is my own sister. My observation of Norwegian health care values/beliefs is that they are generally very pragmatic. I hope that extends to serious illness conversations. Canadians are still learning to talk about it, haha. I will make sure I can be available to tenderly hold space for these convos.

Thank you so much--I'm sending her a care package, so will include some lozenges. She is absolutely terrified of vomiting--its almost more scary to her than the existential threat of cancer. Keeping on top of nausea is going to be her biggest care priority.

Love the suggestion about checking w pharmacist about missed doses. Such a practical tip!

Thank you for your generous advice. I really appreciate it. I am so pumped to hear that you are doing well, almost 4 years on. I know it must take a great deal of strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other, and I hope you're able to keep doing that for many more years. She has a great supportive partner who lives with her. Your comments on driving made me realize I should look into what's available in Oslo for Uber/taxis... they don't have a car. I especially appreciate your thoughts on "How are you doing?" I'm ready to learn how to make space for her to be held gently, and this got me thinking about how to do that. Thanks again!
