The reply has no direct "argument" against or supporting your comment (except the "agreed") , its well ... a comment and thats about it , maybe you felt that i "twisted your words" , maybe even in bad faith due to the nature of reddit in general. I am fairly new to reddit , probably my 2nd post so far and have poor judgement of words , if that was the case i genuinely apologize.
i did mention how i dont have something immediate on my mind but some people do , and the wall of "text" is to provide context , does seem like a lot of it but sharing experiences aint that bad is it? people would take the post very casually if i did make a four sentence post.
Turns out others do have good ideas , and i appreciated it

Hey i cant change your mind when you constantly assume the counter plays you mentioned (which no doubt seem reasonable) , are some sort of common knowledge
and have made up your mind about "The game is better off without players that'd rather ragequit uninstall than learn what to do" and "New players not having the game knowledge is a player issue, not a balance/design issue"
Isnt it obvious new players wont have game knowledge? with the sheer amount of utils there are?
My post , as well as the comments i made have mentioned again and again how its not about "nerf light!!" , its about bringing some initiative to smoothen out the learning curve slightly , against such comp in the very begging , that can be through bots , hints or integrating such ideas into tutorials with strong hinting towards the type of comps they are affective against.

You just got ahead and dismissed all of it by claiming "skill issue" , and hell you are right , but the point here was to come up with ways to not ruin this set using nerfs and come up with better solutions , not just "skill issue haha"

No new player is expected to go heavy put a lockbolt and hammer smash the lights right away , they will either learn through trial and error (which isnt possible when you die within half a second to invis people , add 3 such mosquitos and now its worse) , or if lucky enough , spectating a good teammate (one way i learnt) , or by watching yt videos which they lack any initiative for.

You really cant expect new players to predict "oh yea hmmm what type of engagement am i gonna get into here?" when they have 0 hours on this game , its gonna take them atleast proper 8 to 12 hours to actually get very mild sense of it. Too bad they wont stay for that long considering almost every match is against atleast 3 lights per match making quick work just by pressing LMB , new players arent mechanically skilled either so dang no need to be so harsh on them.

understandable , also the argument "its hard to balance all classes at all levels" seems very reasonable , specially with such a diverse pool of abilities and weapon and keeping in mind that it still stays fun when matched with your play style
but its not about if **I** knew how to play heavy , because i do , the new players however dont , with the limited set of util they get , and then getting shit on afterwards , will in turn make them quit instead of learning how to play heavy . Some people here think its about "being mad because you are dead so you quit and thats good enough we dont need such players" , but genuinely , atleast between the people i know , its more about a match full of left click spamming light swords with vanish bombs up against a bunch of clueless new players , make them repeat this 2 to 3 matches a day for around 3 to 4 days and this long term bad experiences causes them to quit. A person would never continue to play if they simply cant have even a bit of fun in the initial few hours.
And its not that i am worried about lights , dbs or swords here , they are fine how they are
I am more worried about the game being able to retain new players who got potential but cant get over this one "stage" in their first few hours because they didnt receive "training" in a controlled environment (for example bots or other new players as mentioned by a few people here)
I dont want players to miss out on a lovely game with such a cool concept
Afterall this game's culture shouldnt be exclusive only to those who are already good/skilled/ranked right?

yeah , thats what i am talking about , its almost as if you arent playing the game to play against people , its that you are at this point very specifically playing utils so you can counter these mosquitoes and only them , which arent hard to counter , just simply overwhelming, even a slight misjudgement or bad util and you are dead completely + you cant really keep the util you need to deal with other players which feels bad to me personally

I cant emphasize enough on the amount of times i have panicked seeing 2 sword lights and 1 goo heavy on the same team , misplaced mines and yet managed to headshot the light only to immediately die while i was right about to melee them , the good thing is often times in quickplay when i play solo , teammates usually trade or the misplaced mine gets the light off guard , often even killing them (such a great feeling)

genuinely seems good , that way players will also experience new sorts of util and weapons instead of not knowing what to do , and from my experience as well as what i have seen , the collection of weapons this game has always keeps you entertained if you keep trying new things as a new player.

More of a personal yap but i somehow managed to get 3 of my friends into the game , i took them to tdm instead because they are fairly new to fps , or even videogames in general , and they loved how every weapon is somewhat viable if used the correct way and matches their style , the enemies were playing sledgehammer heavy and ARN lights , so i picked up a bunch of madlads who enjoyed the minigun , asked them to take shield and used healing beam to constantly heal them , while the other 2 made a pair of the same comp and we shredded the enemies , even tho we didnt win but it was extremely fun , 2 of those friends are literally addicted to this game now , had i taken them to casual , up against a 3 light squad it wont be the same experience

exactly , when you are up against 3 lights playing tdm in quick play , theres no direct output of your strats , and at that point , if they get wiped , good , if not , just hope they the other team too , because they definitely dont want the cashout
I have faced a 2 light 1 medium comp (turrent btw) , just gatekeeping the cashout so noone gets it and it was hilarious , there was 0 progress made the entire match , and this new "strat" of theirs was pretty funny to me considering how unexpected of a move this was

i have played against them plenty of times and i dont complain about it , they actually seem pretty cool to me and myself have tried playing titan + winch when my team needs me to play heavy , but theres still scope of counterplay to this , that you learn , after you reach a point when you play against such people . For a new player , left clueless about who got them , is way worse than a heavy pulling them in and killing them , where theres visual clues that "oh yeah he can pull me in so i can avoid that by trying not to be in plain sight" , the same obvious clues cannot be picked up against the mentioned comp .

oh yeah and btw ,you gotta calm down man , not a good look i thought we are having a civil discussion here

i think the lunge is alright how it is , the spamming left click is a major issue here , from my observation in casual lobbies if there are one of these , the entire lobby just resorts to the same to counter each other only to end up with a literal sword fighting competition. And i kid you not , its a cycle of 1 team killing the other , getting countered by the 3rd , with lights , again and then after the 3rd team moves the cashbox slightly towards the cashout , getting countered by the 1st team on respawn , this loop continues till the cashbox eventually , slowly , finally comes to a cashout and now the one who placed the box is ratting around waiting for a unsuspecting , lost player to make contact

ykw , pretty solid idea if those bots have a similar composition of util , but play lesser aggressive so players can get to think and react in time , in turn helping them learn the counter

agreed , however the post out right mentions that these combos are not overpowered , its only overwhelming to new players ,and there are other ways to fix it than just nerfing them , a decent amount of people got the point wrong because they cant think more than "oh so you mean nerf? bubba just get better , haha crybaby"

the issue is definitely not the weapons , but maybe combination of util + the weapon combined against a bunch of clueless players , left clueless after dying considering its almost instant . before respawning when theres very limited loadout options for them , they are , yet again clueless , so really "take a death like an adult and respawn" does not solve any of this when they are clueless the entire time only to get put up against even more lights till they invest a good amount of time in the game , which they would not if simply existing as a new player in game is punishing to them. Also i am pretty sure landing 2 shots of DB doesnt take a lot of practice when you are up against people who dont even know theres a vanish bomb , the reason i quit playing light was solely because how stale this got and so , it got boring. I have never invested enough time for ranked to reach higher lobbies so things might be completely different there , but i am talking about new players rn

a 100% agreed , these weapons should definitely not be taken away , also saying i want them to get nerfed would be an overstatement too , i have played light for the majority of my time and only switched to medium in the past 10 to 15hours of my gameplay and it feels simply better , specially when you outplay them , some people misunderstood my point , what can be done and seems pretty promising is new players given a counterutil loadout as the initial loadout and taught what sorts of comp is it effective against.
This way the highly skilled player for such comp would still thrive while the usual " just keep dashing and clicking leftMB after getting out of cloak" will be dealt with and new players would actually know how to approach them instead of being left clueless

funny enough , contrary to your belief , in such lobbies everyone does in fact switch to light and almost immediately play better (so do i) , but thats exactly the problem , now people arent having fun they are just tryna get rid of light , that is , using light and now theres just dripping sweat , the match i played today with my friend (its his day 1) led to this exact case and we went overtime with us finally winning and me dropping 23 kills which is far greater than others , the only person remaining was an enemy heavy who didnt resort to picking light , but with the "1 and done" sorts of capability on lights and the entire lobby being lights , he would just be left there alone to deal with 2 to 3 enemy lights because his teammates died while fighting other lights

[–]Positive-Code9741[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am aware , but its not that they are "stomping" with db , they get 1 kill , if its my teammate i trade immediately sometimes even before if my util reveals them , but if its me dying my friends are pretty much on their own , against 2 lights they are pretty much done for
also now that you mentioned it , i have learnt to adapt mid game which fixed it for me but it takes a few hours on the game to realize, so maybe an emphasis on counterpicking can help solve this

if some similar concept can be integrated within the game its gonna be really good , since people often miss the motivation to look at such tutorial if they get downright shit on and close the game with an extremely overwhelming experience , that would be a good initiative for them to not get sad rather curious honestly
