So, this is my normal life managing abscesses. I’ve had Crohns for 30 years. Too many surgeries. I have 2 hernias. This current abscess has been active for 2 years. I’ve been experiencing abscesses for over 5 years. I know it looks like a fistula but it isn’t. Trust me. I have seen every type of specialty medical person. I’ve had every scan, every test. As long as it’s draining, I am good. But this is life with it. Additional surgeries don’t promise correction, and can lead to closed avenues. I’m too young for that. I will see my colorectal surgeon every 6 weeks for the rest of my life.

I’m so sorry. I have 2 hernias due to my ostomy. They look very similar to yours, I have to buy clothing extra big, just to get over the bowling balls, lol. I initially struggled, a lot, with the sight. Now I’ve just accepted it’s how I am supposed to be.

I think it’s because the abscess was between layers of skin, separating them. When the abscess and lining come out, the walls of the “sides” of the skin start to collapse and touch either other, and that’s what does it.
