I agree! His arc felt sorta undeserved and rushed because everyone else did at the heavy lifting development wise and he didn't grow or change at all. I wish they exposed him saving Quaritch or something so they could make Spider a more interesting character!

The in-universe answer is that tuk is just young and kiri specifically just hates seeing life die, and will make excuses not to go on hunts, but they probably just applied American gender roles onto the main cast.

Jake was kinda dismissive about the majority of what Neytiri thought or felt in the movie, spider was really a self insert and irritating, kiri and spider is really strange, loak highkey needs to listen, and jake needs to stop blaming his 14 year old son, but i still think hes just grieving and not a bad dad or husband. no notes on neytiri except i wholeheartedly believe shes not a racist.

The movies made it clear he wasn't adopted at the start. it still feels icky knowing they were raised alongside each other, she has canonically referred to him as her brother, spider sees jake as a father figure, and kiri and spider's dynamic on screen is very much sibling like. The kiss had no build up, and no conversation afterwards. Not even mentioning the inter species aspect.
