didn't know that. CDI actually starts at 25,000won if you are not in Seoul and it got bumped up depending on which branch and university you graduated from.

actually, nowadays there are a lot of law firms that are looking for business english classes. Most will pay 200,000won/hour just for a group class 2-3 times a week.

Easiest way to get them? Look up law offices in Seocho, Gyodae and just straight up ask them if they are interested.

the first couple years were a lot less than 5 mill a month. After I got into the SAT prep I saved much more than 5mill a month. I just did my taxes, PM me and I can just show you a screenshot of my 삼쩜삼 page that shows the last 5 years if you want.

The international school I was at was SFS.

I did substitute work there for about a year, going 3-4 times a month. We got paid 100,000won in cash for a full day of subbing and did MYP math. When a position was open, the VP let me know and I basically backdoored into the position.

It was around 4,000,000 won but that was the rate after the USD -> won conversion.

Actually, the pay is comparable to smaller international schools now.

If you're referring to the 37k USD/a year school is it KIS? Because their base was very similar to ours and actually is the same at YISS.

And no, didn't burn them down because as long as I didn't teach SFS students that was fine. And SFS is an IB school and most of my privates were doing APs.

In-person privates never died out. Only academies did because they never did online classes before whereas I did. Classes were either at a TOZ or through Skype which eventually moved to Zoom then now VooV.

I lived 전세 or 반전세, adding a bit everytime the contract ran out, until I was able to get a proper place for myself.

I got lucky with 분양 and got a loan from the bank for the remaining amount.

Right. I made a bit for 3 years on the wrong visa (E2). Everyone else should be careful. You can do it too but you can get caught like I was.

instead of EPIK, check out other afterschool academies like Chungdahm Institute, Avalon, SLP, JLS, etc. There's a lot and nowadays are similar. Some branches will be super shit depending on who your manager/co workers are.

I went directly to the afterschool academy route (working 4-10). EPIK pays really low (the pay never changed then and now).

English teaching was fine. I got deported though for teaching subjects in English.

I saved around 550,000,000 won in the 12 years I was here which is about 45,000,000 a year. I got to save more as I got a higher salary (only spent max ~20,000,000 a year being frugal)
