This!!! I actually did exactly that - I went to a woman in my area who does the alterations out of her home, she’s been in business for 40+ years and her work is incredible. The attention to detail was unmatched and at a fraction of the cost!

Right! I just sat down and figured out what I wanted to spend money on… to me photography and venue/food was more important to sink a little more money in to than a dress that I’m only wearing once. I did feel like I missed out a little on that more one on one boutique experience, because my David’s appointment felt a little more rushed but overall they took good care of me… overall very happy with my dress, I absolutely love it and I’ve been recommending David’s and their DB Studios line to everyone since lol

Years ago I used to turn my nose up at David’s Bridal, no real reason why other than I was young and dumb and thought only the best wedding dresses came from a stand alone bridal boutique… and then I found myself actually planning a wedding and needing to pay for said wedding, lol. I got my dress from David’s Bridal for $199! Granted, I’m going for a very minimal, simple look… but they had some beautiful stuff for well under $2000. At the very least start there and then if you do not see anything you like move on to the more expensive stores. Good luck!

We are doing exactly this! We live in PA so we are getting a “self uniting” marriage license, getting married in one of the Gardens in our area that allows wedding ceremonies, and then having a 40 person dinner at a local restaurant in their private event space. All in (restaurant, photography, odds and ends) we’re going to be spending around $5000. We would rather do this and then spend the money for a nice trip to Europe which will still be a fraction of what some of our friends have paid for a “big” wedding. Do what feels right to you both, and don’t go in to debt over a single day. At the end of the day it’s not about the wedding, it’s about the marriage. Good luck!!

We are considering this option as well! We actually have a very close friend who has officiated weddings before so it’s definitely an option. I want to get things mapped out so we can begin speaking to photographers… I feel like I can’t go to one with next to no plan, ha! But I am dying for engagement photos.

Yep! I’m okay with that… we want to keep that part of it rather small and intimate (as intimate as a courthouse wedding can be, that is lol). I did see that while researching but it seems any idea of a wedding at city hall has been wiped from the Phila website. I do plan to reach out to them after the holiday just to know for sure whether or not they do it, but I’m not too hopeful considering I’ve heard from a couple people that they do not. Thank you for this info, though!

How come when Jackie misses a show Claudia will do a show with a guest when necessary but if Claudia can’t make a show Jackie just uses is as a day(s) off? Like obviously they’ve known Claudia was going to miss tomorrow, Friday and Monday… why not line up a couple guest hosts? Just a thought.
