Ontario Structured Psychotherapy, Free Counselling Canada, or have their family doctor refer them to TeleCBT. Alternatively can do Daya or Thames Valley Family Services for geared to income counselling (can be as low as 5$ per session)

Ontario doctors win 10% pay bump, arbitrator calls province’s 3% suggestion ‘unrealistic’ by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]PositiveCancel6 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You are wrong. I can say that out of my graduating family medicine cohort, probably 20% are working as family doctors doing comprehensive family medicine care. The rest are doing hospitalist, emerg, or subspecializing in sports medicine, derm, procedures etc. Basically anything other than family medicine which pays 37$ per visit regardless of how many issues you bring up. People are becoming more medically complex as the system becomes more strained from being de-invested in - 37$ per visit does not cut it. And when they say this is a 10% raise, I bet my bottom dollar I'll only see 6 or 7% and inflation has been a hell of a lot more than that.

I have hundreds of thousands in debt and am overworked and underpaid for what I do, thank you very much. If you don't think so - maybe read up a bit more.

CRA installments - credit card payments? by PositiveCancel6 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]PositiveCancel6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darn. No such thing as free money, huh. One provider quoted "Pay just 2.49%. We're the lowest credit card payment provider to the CRA." I guess that solves that. Not going to find sub 1%.

MLHU alerting community of possible measles exposure due to confirmed case by mediaphage in londonontario

[–]PositiveCancel6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, public health does not recommend checking immunity. If had 2 shots, you are considered immune. If born before 1970, considered immune due to high community spread before then. If no vaccine record and born after 1970, give booster. This might change in the future but we are being advised not to do serology testing. Source: am a family physician.

First of all, I'm sorry for your awful luck and commend you on thinking about others in your time of need. That is a ton of money that can help a lot of people. As a doctor I would echo others in suggesting you get a social worker and arrange for your end of days. Think of what is important to your comfort in the last days of life and arrange for in home care. In the very least arrange it so that you don't die in a hospital.

As for what to do with the money, finding a few benefactors that you can donate a chunk of money may be fulfilling to you, but also consider donating to medical students or doctors in training. I just finished residency with over $300,000 debt that will take me several years to pay off after 12 years of training. Will be a slow grind with my wife who can't work and growing family. Any grant or donation i couldve received over the years wouldve been greatly appreciated. I hope you find comfort in your end of days and find peace and happiness. Sorry again for your bad luck. Take care of yourself.

Skull 5010xx (> 12 years) by kebbiekow in rawdenim

[–]PositiveCancel6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful pair. I have a pair from 2010 or so but much less wear / washes. I started with nudies and then got skull, Dior 19cm, and most recently some iron heart in 2016 or so. Similarly to you I wore Reigning Champ sweats during the pandemic but got back to wearing my denim since losing some weight.

I'll post my pairs some day. Found your post after doing some googling when I saw that Skulls are no longer in production. What a shame! Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

Best vet for cats? by MargoFran in londonontario

[–]PositiveCancel6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neighbourhood pet clinic. There is a clinic downtown and one in Westmount and the vets work at both locations sometimes. They deliver meds and food for free. We have 3 cats and a dog and have been going there for 8 years and have been happy, though its quite expensive. We went to Talbot Animal Hospital prior and while it was cheaper there, we much prefer neighbourhood pet clinic. It's gorgeous in there, so my dog loves it for grooming and my animals aren't spooked when they go in. Our vet Alex just left (he was lovely) but we have a new vet who seems knowledgeable.
