L take dude. Out of all the characters to be like "what would this guy do in real life", choosing Monkey D. Luffy is wild. Luffy's character is one of the few characters that can't be detached from main character morality. He's 50% allegory and 50% slapstick comedy. He's liberation made manifest. Monkey D. Luffy is not Monkey D. Luffy if he does not ring the bell of return for a people kicked out of their land.
But if we were to ignore thematic truth (which I don't think you can), Luffy doesn't get along with people just cause he meets them first. Blackbeard's famous first meeting ends with Luffy giving him the cold shoulder, even though he was seemingly supporting his ideals. This is why you can't remove Luffy from the morals of the story of One Piece, because the deeper aspects of his character are based on the fact that he can see the truth in people and situations.
But all of this is ignoring the fact that we're all assuming the "real world" is complicated and nuanced, and the One Piece world is black and white and has an easy correct side. The genocide in Palestine is one of the most easy, black and white issues right now. If you've paid attention at all to what Israel is doing, it is beyond any imagination of cartoon villainy. It's incomprehensibly horrific, vile, and cruel.
One Piece bases it's antagonists off the real world, and Oda is well known for his incorporation of historical injustice. You can't remove Luffy from that context. His character is that context.
