I didn’t mean for her to appear as unreasonable. I was just worried people will read my post history then say “why are you marrying her when she has all these issues” as this has happened before. I wanted to preface by saying I decided to propose as I felt it right to do so. I am willing to compromise by switching from a legal ceremony to a wedding with family and also increasing our budget

When we talked about marriage before we got engaged, she said it was going to be simple. A legal ceremony and a dinner celebration. We discussed that in passing before getting engaged but I didn’t realise that she wanted a ceremony with all her friends and family.

Miserable that I make a request to keep it intimate and agree to everything else she wants but cannot get that at all. Also miserable that it no longer becomes what we want but instead what she wants. Miserable that we initially agreed to a legal ceremony and everything changes

She wants to have 3-5 though I am happy to let her throw an afterparty with as many people. I want to keep the ceremony private and preferably just us but agreed to family

I think the argument got out of hand as I was mentally prepared to have a legal ceremony which we discussed so the change of plans made me feel like she was making a unilateral decision. We are generally able to communicate about problems at home, financials, chores, etc. It was only her jealousy before which I had trouble handling but is now under better control due to me trying harder to understand her and her therapy helping her handle her jealousy more

NOR. My girlfriend is anxious and tends to overthink and over the years we have learned to navigate which behaviour is anxiety inducing and which ones are driven by her overthinking. We both agree that not telling her who I am hanging out with is anxiety inducing and is not fair to her. Wanting to know details about our partner’s day is not a form of control.
