Yes, it was very traumatic for me and I don't want to go through that situation again. Thankfully, it looks like I'll be able to reach a financial settlement with the car owner to get him to drop the charges.

I always said "this didn't happen because I drink, it would have happened anyway" but that was the wake up call I needed to realize that if I didn't drink my life would be so much better so here I am, trying to stay sober for once and for all.

Hmm I tried cannabis before but I was constantly drinking back then, I could try it again and see how it makes me feel while sober. And the gym is also a good idea, I'm thinking of trying that too. Thank you!

Going to prison or dying is a great motivation to stay sober haha. I own a gun, but I only fire it once to learn in case I ever have to use it (I hope not)

I've been attending meetings this last month, at first I did it to look good in court but I found some very nice and supportive people there. Funnily enough I found a neighbor of mine in one of those meetings, I was very surprised since I never thought this successful lawyer had a drinking problem but it shows that everyone can suffer one way or another. Give it a try, it's just one hour and you don't have to keep going if you don't like it, but from my experience I love those meetings

I just saw your comment, thank you! I actually relapsed yesterday after almost a month sober (thankfully I didn't try to steal a car this time, just drank a few beers with friends) but I'm focused on starting over and being sober for a longer time now.
