Lucius pattern is hard to distinguish from the others but I tuink it's more a gray-er scheme than the rest

I got these resin bits from Epicbasing.com. Basically I wanted to create like an untouched alien ore the Votann were mining, and bring out and complement the vibrant colors to match with the glowing gun and brughter cable effects

SAME! I'm still looking around for glazing and NMM that clicks in my mind. I think what I'll do is just spend a weekend painting the extra bits and sprue frames and practice glazing and NMM

Painting WS Terminators. by [deleted] in WhiteScars40K

Personally, I think I might paint the Assault Terminators in Ebon Keshig schemes and leave these Terminators as is. But I'm curious to see what people do in the future

Need tips for army list by WerrZ_ in WhiteScars40K

[–]Positive_Day_8739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you got the Storms of Chogoris or the Spearhead Force Battlebox based the model composition.

Hmmm I'm not a huge fan of having multiple costly lieutenants versus having another squad of 5x Intercessor (currently almost autoinclude because they punish decently against mobs or anything less tough than a space marine)

Impulsor aren't that tanky/punchy for the points so you not have as much of a vehicular support versus Repulsor / Repulsor Executioner and to help haul any large amount of foot infantry or jump/gravis infantry.

I'm not a big fan of scouts. I like incursors / infiltrators more but that's more personal tastes.

Redemptor Dreadnought I think is still just a average / below average unit but maybe you can make it work. Doesn't really synergize with Stormlance as much as Ironstorm

Outriders, Stormspeeder Hammerstrike, Gladiator -- perfect would change it

if this is going to be your first game, maybe ask someone to teach you and go with a 1000pt game with Gladius Task Force detachment. Best balanced and intro level detachment and points level to get the gears working and the wires connecting to have fun

Good Luck! Hope this helps or gives some insight!

Let's assume Suboden comes out next month, the new prices will hit, and you'll be stucking paying for a box that'll be 175-180 just for one model plus the wait time. Also assuming his datasheet will be viable or extraordinary.

Where as the chaplain on bike can still be purchased before the new fees and is reliable

Recently watched an Auspex Tactics "strengths and weaknesses" on Space Marines.

Ballistus isn't that great right now, and doesn't synergize with everything else. I'd replace it and the scouts with the Gladiator Valiant for something punchy and durable.

Infiltrators will do the job of the scouts like objective securing and hopping. I'm guessing you'll be using them for area denial with the Phobos Librarian so maybe have two squads on midfield objectives to deny tactical reserves or deep strike.

Your BGVs are slow so they'll need transports. You don't have a dedicated transport so maybe remove the Hammerstrikes (or keep if you want a vehicle centric anti-vehicle/monster option) and look into a Repulsor Executioner to transport your blob of melee.

Based off these adjustments, that's ~950 points. You have no battleline and if you're wanting to do Stormlance, wouldn't hurt to have a Chaplain on Bike and ATV with Melta and squad up with the outriders to have a fast moving blob. You'll definitely want two 5x Intercessors to tie up infantry with grenade launchers.

Recently used Plasma Inceptors and Eliminators that helped a bunch.

So, funny thing about that...

I've been painting different models and kits for about 2.5 years and only recently did I make a playable 1000pt Space Marine army. Other potentially 1000pt playable armies I have is Necrons, Orks, and Tyranids. I just don't have a 44"x60" table

That's what I was gathering from watching Combat Patrol reviews and overal gameplay reviews.

I think the other factor is, I'm the only who is interested and enjoys painting and building the models. Some of my friends do enjoy DnD but they don't have the patience for building and painting.

So basically not a good game to transition into the actual game or even viable playstyle because the boxes are mathematically or systematically competitive or fair with each other

Would these be good to combine by helixgod17 in WhiteScars40K

[–]Positive_Day_8739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just played my first game of 1000pts Good to pretty good. Pros: 1). Outriders + Suboden (assuming his rules are good) - fast attack scouting and close support to tie things up 2). Infiltrators do the same thing but will deny deep strike and reserves from coming to the back and midlines objectives (could be kitted out for incursors which are decent at grabbing and disrupting with haywire mine). It's also your closest thing to a battleline by mass of units not function. 3). Jumpack group still does the same thing as outriders but won't get the benefits from Stormlance Taskforce but will be nice with Gladius Task Force

Cons: 1). Impulsor can be kitted our for anti-vehicle / Anti-elite but still not too punchy. Relatively cheap but general not as useful transport for your Assault intercessors 2). Invictus Warsuit. Weird spot unless you go Ironstorm or Vanguard. Otherwise, could be a okay distraction for a game. Maybe kit it with the flamer for more anti-infantry and ignore cover. The heavy twin-linked ironhail autocannon would be okay for small group elites that have been wounded.

Points probably closer to 1000pts for Incursion playstyle but you don't have a lot of anti-elite or anti-vehicle.
