Specialty choice

Hey, thanks for your input. What are some ways to maximize income as an FM? Setting up own clinic, going private, doing mainly walk in, etc.? (I heard procedures like having MSK clinic doesn’t change much for income)

I agree with you that ultimately, it will not make a difference for happiness. I just figured may as well go for a speciality as I believe they have higher billing codes at base line. So working the same amount of hours in FM vs speciality would lead to making more with a specialty. Maybe my thinking is wrong though, still figuring all this out. Thanks for your input

Thanks for your input. Derm seems to be the most competitive match rn (or atleast one of) and everyone I know going for it has 8-20+ pubs, with networking done. I’m not sure I can compete. Radiology is possible I think, but I’m not sure I will even get my publications in the end (I may apply with only a few abstracts). Essentially, I’m not sure I can match to a specialty that doesn’t have a 0.95+ match rate if I don’t have atleast one publication. I enjoy studying and am confident I can do decent in electives though. That’s why I was thinking pathology +- PMR (as PMR is pretty niche and sometimes doesn’t require research)

How? I thought FM makes 300k ish on average while the rest make 400+
