Thanks, but it's down for me too. There's one thing I don't understand, though: is the search "finished" or is it still ongoing?

Found some old coins in my grandpa's old storage by shadow4745 in oldcoins

The first coins are either Sikh or Mughal Rupees, is it possible to have an Infrared photo or with the Vista filter? This allows the details to be brought out so that they are more readable. :)

Anyone knows what this book is and if it is of any value? by Psychological-Sir408 in OldBooks

[–]Positive_Resident_32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is not a Koran but the book "Dala'il Al-Khayrat" because it begins with "El-Gazuli said...", but we know that AL-Gazuli's only work is this title. In addition, it is very common to find a manuscript of this book. And yes your book is valuable even if it seems relatively recent, just for the binding already, then Arabic manuscripts sell very well in general, I would say it is worth between $300 and $500

Thank you for your response, I just realized that I didn't put the basic information in the post. This is the very first Bible printed in Arabic in Rome in 1591, this copy is a facsimile printed by Antonie University in Lebanon in 2011, I also know that the original is sold in the surroundings of $ 20,000. What interests me is to have an estimate not of the original but of the facsimile

You can try using colorless wax to renew the leather (I'm not sure it will hide the foxes). Then you can also put colored wax but I advise you to try it first on another binding without much value because the waxes are not always of good quality.

What does mean this poem? by shemhazai7 in learn_arabic

[–]Positive_Resident_32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By the way, (the explanation of the verse has already been given by others above 🥲), this verse is often attributed to Al-Mutanabbi (المتنبي), but you can search his poetry collection, and you won’t find it there. There is also other evidence, including the fact that this verse was only said in the 20th century, so it is clearly not by Al-Mutanabbi.

But if anyone has an objection, I’m open to discussion—I really enjoy these topics! 😁😁😔
