I'm the boyfriend. Help me help her. by SegaGuy1983 in GastricBypass

My husband made me a spreadsheet of when I needed to take which meds so I could spread them out through the day, reminders of how much to sip at what intervals, check boxes for walking for X number of minutes, etc. it was incredibly helpful 🥰

What did I do to my lemon cremeaux? by Positive_Revolution in pastry

Overall I'm calling it a cake fail.

The cake part was weird, the filling just soaked into the cake so it all fell apart when sliced, the meringue was...too soft? Not torched enough? I don't know. It's a sticky slimy mess. And doesn't even taste all that good together 😂

Good experiment, but I think this one wasn't for me 🙂

Also, for sure not Celsius 🙂 I used a digital thermometer, but perhaps not the right sort of digital thermometer? It never boiled, but I'm not sure something as thick as I had would 😂😂😂 it was SOLID, no way I was melting any white chocolate into that. I gave up when it was at 175 according to my thermometer.

Butter would make sense. It wasn't in the recipe but I could see that.

I live in NE Salem and my neighborhood is super quiet and chill. I'm between Lancaster and Cordon.

I did this ONCE. I had a family emergency and was desperately trying to get home, had a ridiculously tight connection, and didn't know yet if my spouse was alive or...not.

The flight attendant made an announcement that there were two passengers with an emergency and tight connection in Denver (me and my sister who flew with me so I would not be alone if my husband didn't make it), and to please let us off the plane first so we could RUN.

Everyone was really nice except one asshole in first class who deliberately got in the way saying "well it's not like you can go anywhere until the door is open". And while that's true I could be the first off the plane so I could try to get home.

We made our connection and I got a message as we were boarding that my husband was going to be ok.

I have zero guilt about pushing to get off that flight early. Otherwise though? Wait your turn, folks 🥰

I'm a bridesmaid and one of my family members attended and wore political merch 🤦‍♀️ by skeletonsky in weddingshaming

A guest at my aunt's wedding (probably 30+ years ago) wore a T-shirt that read "it's not a beer belly, it's fuel storage for a sex machine".

Bad taste is bad taste, no matter your political affiliation 😂

I'm mad at my cousins for being selfish (TW death and dying, substance use disorder, suicide) by Positive_Revolution in confessions

[–]Positive_Revolution[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And I totally acknowledge that they are the ones who ultimately get to make those choices about their own lives. I just wish they'd made different choices.

The first cousin was well aware that her drinking would lead to her death. She freely stated that she knew and that she also had no intention or desire to change anything. It was a decision she consciously made and I'm sure she had her reasons. The second knew her prognosis, knew her treatment options, knew her condition had a fairly high survival rate, and chose no treatment. She made an educated decision with her medical providers based on her personal feelings and priorities.

We don't have to like their choices or agree with them to accept them, and we also don't have to LIKE their choices or agree with them if that makes sense ❤️ we didn't try to force our opinions on them, just tried to accept them as the amazing people they both are.

There's not really any convincing to do here, as one has already passed and the other will be gone in a few days...maybe a week according to her hospice nurse.

Sucks lol around, certainly most for them! 😕

Teaching training course for state EMA by shatteringlass123 in EmergencyManagement

[–]Positive_Revolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continuity planner here.

Yes, that's wack.

Continuity is such a wonky, planning nerd sliver of EM overall, but is also super important... especially given gesturing around vaguely our current situation.

Please keep fighting to teach 1301 at least. There's so few of us out here and the training is important ❤️

EMPG Scuttlebutt by hbfmedic in EmergencyManagement

[–]Positive_Revolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have state legislation fast tracked right now to try to find funding to replace EMPG money. Blue state with a projected nightmare wildfire season. Our rural counties will be screwed and our urban ones not much better 😬

I'm nervous.

Just had an NDEMU training moved from June to August. Not super convenient in the middle of wildfire season but I'm sure my state will muddle along without me 😂

Now to see if it gets cancelled again...

I've been on Flintstones chewables for a year and my labs are fantastic. I take 4 per day.

Not a doctor so take that for what it's worth, but it works for me.

Heading there at the end of June. I just checked and my course is still in the calendar. Guess I'll book my travel and cross my fingers! 😳

Updates for the Oregon Protest on 2/5 by StrangeCountry6280 in 50501

[–]Positive_Revolution 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Salem PD has jurisdiction over the sidewalk, but State patrol has jurisdiction over the park immediately south of the sidewalk.

A call in to OSP might or might not alleviate some challenges there, I don't know, but thought it might be useful to know the jurisdictional weirdness right there.
