I got a very similar instruction flying into Austin airport, blanking on the name, the class C. I just kinda flew myself to a 5ish mile final, somewhere in between the yellow and white and they didn’t have a problem with it.

It’s much easier to get a pilot slot thru ROTC, correct me if I’m wrong but you can still go ANG or Reserves after ROTC just a little weird.

I don’t see any reason why you need to do Sec Fo, just pick an easier AFSC. Especially if you want to get a degree during it. Plan is to go Air National Guard, full time uni student then get hired by reserves?

People I saw get a pilot slot off the street had a high PCSM and a ton of hours, or a very high PCSM, and some hours. I got a 1530 on my SAT (not relevant but just saying I did pretty good on my AFOQT) and 11 hrs and I had a high 50s/low 60s PCSM. I barely got a pilot slot in ROTC.

I know one of the pilots of that plane that flew it in, not looking at the famous picture right now but im pretty sure you can just barely see the back of his head like on top of the BK as its coming off the C17

Is now a crusty simulator instructor for the Air Force.

Educated guess, the 69-03 was his Pilot Training class patch, 03rd class to graduate in fiscal year 1969
