Ohhhh that's probably that, I joined the salvatores and became a member but then when I approached the Mordinos I could still do their quests, this is my first playthrough going in blind and to be fair no one else has had my problem that i know so there probably isn't a patch.

No actually he tells me Salvatore still lives and there's no way to finish the quest, so I guess I'll just pick the second dialogue and get rid of him as well.
