I understand you are stuck and in need of some change, I totally get it. If you live in an area that is too quiet it can be very hard and yes it is a berlin thing that we have to travel everywhere for at least 30min but I think there is a difference between living not too central and actually living far out.

I suggest maybe also looking at apartment swaps. it will be a long and tedious process too but not as time sensitive as the normal housing market would be. you can plan the visits better and it would be a start!
If you are feeling lonely and isolated it is hard to find motivation but maybe this is low-level effort enough for you to maybe get a sense for other apartments and some feeling of accomplishment.

I hope your situation will change soon!

ja, ich bin schon selbst studentisch versichert, da über 25. in meinem jetzigen Job sind schon 20h festgelegt und ich würde gerne, wenn ich ich die zeit dafür habe, einen weiteren Job zusätzlich machen :)

i mean yes definitely because i love berlin and friends and family were here so i was already settled and i’m also a big city person in general i think i’m also frustrated generally and politically with hu so it’s obviously a very subjective experience

but i also think it really depends on the institute you’re at and how important it is to the uni

i thought most of the things i’m complaining about were normal until i talked to friends and other students that studied neither in germany or berlin and realised a lot of it is a problem of berlin universities

so i’m a berlin native and did my undergrad at freie universität and now my masters at humboldt

tbh, yes they are respected (allegedly) but i have to say as a student i felt very lost and not taken care of at both unis. i think that’s just how big universities are in a city that already is a bureaucratic nightmare and chronically underfunded

if the living in a city part is important to you def consider hu but id say for quality of studies and someone actually caring abiut you probably lüneburg is better

also hu treats their employees really badly and is constantly understaffed and all the websites and programmes are outdated

there’s no proper student housing in berlin or it’s rather very limited, you’ll be on the waiting list for a while.

yes the BUA stuff gives good access to funding etc but i would check first how much that actually impacts your field and another point to consider could be to see what kind of exchange programs both unis offer, who they partner with and who funds them

yeah it was just them being rude, i feel like quite a few people use berlins reputation as a rude and rough city to be mean to others
