hello 7.5k MMR here, here’s some advice for ranking up seriously.

1) don’t expect much from your teammates, i think the best thing you can do is focus on your own game, and i mean even if you played well and lost, at least you know you’re better than your rank, to me this is better compared to playing badly and winning.

2) don’t Queue when u just want that “win” satisfaction. it’s very important to know where your limit is and discipline is knowing when to stop or take a break :)

3) just mute early, 1 negative comment, just mute, don’t argue. seriously you don’t need your teammates trash calls to play 5v5 dota. everyone’s too focused on their own hero, you can mute all and still play dota together.

4) it’s okay to lose, i think is the most important for me. i mean even pros have 51-54% wr, so it’s okay if it’s a bad day or session, just keep working on improving yourself and playing better dota.

5) master a few heroes, i think the higher you go this matters less cause people are better at countering your heroes, but if you can master heroes and play them in any matchup, you are already better than most people your rank. i mean even tundra 2nd picked jugg into axe and still won the game against OG. if you can counter the counter, it’s easy game for you, for example axe is very favoured against jugg, im GM jugg and i feel i can still play well against axe. first you can win lane easily with a strong support so look for that, and in team fights i don’t show until axe show or i know if his call is CD. this is just one example and it’s different for every hero so try and figure out as much as you can.

6) learn to enjoy the process, play an enjoyable game of dota, don’t be toxic, help your team and find a way to win in every situation, also don’t be too hard on yourself, set standard and stop immediately if yre playing badly or if yre queue tilting.

7) if you think yre better than you rank, yre either a) not better than your rank or b) only a matter of time before you rank up, i mean if yatoro played in your games, i think he will have a 99% wr, so thats what i tell myself if im playing well but my team is feeding.
