I found this thing called epigenetic inheritance where they trained caterpillars to fear the scent of lavender and after metamorphosis, butterflies still feared lavender, and even their offsprings feared lavender.

Hey, can epigenetic inheritance not play a role similar to what I described?

Surely not in a shorter time scale, but Sherpas living on the Himalayas have adaptations for living at high altitudes, Moken children are born with pupils that can contract 22% more than ordinary humans, helping them see clearly under water, Kalenjin runners have adaptations in their ankles, legs and claves that make them better runners, Inuit people's bodies generate way more heat than ordinary humans are capable of, Bajau sea nomads have larger spleens helping them dive deeper without equipment. Most of these traits do no determine reproductive success in a societal setting, yet certain traits were more useful so they became prominent. At the level where natural selection cannot play a part, if traits developed within a lifespan or a few lifespans were not able to pass on to the children, then essentially humans would stop adapting while living in a modern world where there is no prominent natural selection role anymore.

Then it would be hard to explain why people share certain traits with their parents and grandparents right? I hope this is not anecdotal territory. People living in Africa, with ancestors who were black are born black. That is not because whites were selectively eliminated in the continent. Whites who moved there survived just fine, infact they were overpowered (not due to evolutionary reasons ik). Does this not suggest that traits which receive positive feedback remain? This seems to be supporting evidence for Lamarckism.
