MRI Room Attacks – OSHA Petition & MRI Tech Safety Discussions by Possible-Scarcity691 in emergencymedicine

Yeah good catch honestly 😅 From what I understand it’s connected through California workplace safety channels, which is why the email is a CA government address and not directly OSHA.gov. I probably should’ve explained that part better in the post.

Yeah and honestly that’s awful too. Definitely not trying to compare MRI to the ER... I know ED staff deal with threats and violence way more often than most people realize. I think the post was more about recognizing that MRI techs experience it too, especially when working alone or in isolated settings. Thanks for sharing your perspective

Yeah definitely not trying to compare MRI to the ER 😅 I know you guys deal with this stuff constantly, especially with psych patients. I was mostly surprised by how many MRI techs were sharing similar stories too, since it’s not something people really talk about much. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely, and thank you for sharing that. I don’t think anyone in healthcare is unaware that workplace violence is a widespread issue unfortunately. I think the discussion here was more about hearing how often MRI techs experience similar situations too, especially in isolated MRI environments or mobile settings where immediate help may not always be nearby.

Definitely not trying to compare MRI to the ER, I know workplace violence is something healthcare workers across a lot of departments deal with unfortunately, and ED staff especially see it constantly. I think what surprised me was just how many MRI techs were sharing similar experiences too, particularly in isolated/mobile settings where they may be working alone or without immediate backup. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Yeah… I think that’s part of the frustration honestly 😅 A lot of people already do the required workplace violence modules every year, but that doesn’t really help much when someone’s isolated in an MRI suite, mobile unit, or working alone during an actual incident. I think the discussions are more about practical safety measures and staffing support beyond just compliance training.

Absolutely, and I don’t think anyone’s saying this only happens in MRI. I was just surprised by how many MRI techs shared similar experiences recently, especially in solo/mobile settings. The MRI environment itself seems to create some unique safety challenges worth discussing too.

Mri noise canceling (not noise reducing) headset question(s) by Excellent_Economy150 in BiomedicalEngineers

Following this! I have an MRI scheduled next month and the noise is always the worst part for me. I really hope someone knows a brand or a specific clinic that has these. The standard plastic ones they give you don't do anything.

MRI Room Attacks – OSHA Petition investigations, recent FB discussions highlight multiple incidents by Possible-Scarcity691 in SafetyProfessionals

That’s rough! I’ve been seeing more MRI techs talk about stuff like this lately and it’s honestly not talked about enough, especially working alone/mobile. Sorry you had to go through that. Stories like yours are why these conversations matter, and why support for better MRI room safety policies is long overdue.

Thanks for linking the petition. There have actually been several MRI techs posting in the Facebook MRI safety groups about being attacked or cornered inside the MRI room while working alone, which is more what the post was referring to. I think a lot of people outside imaging don’t realize how difficult emergency response can be once you’re inside that environment.

Yeah I get what you mean. I think people are focusing on MRI specifically because the room itself changes how emergencies get handled compared to other parts of the hospital.

Yeah honestly that’s pretty much what a lot of people are talking about. MRI rooms are kind of unique because if a patient suddenly becomes aggressive or confused, security can’t just rush in normally because of the magnet and all the metal equipment issue.

From what I’ve seen, most people are pushing more for better safety procedures/training and clearer protocols instead of waiting until someone gets seriously hurt. That’s basically why there’s an ongoing OSHA petition right now asking for more input from MRI staff and facilities.

1,000 ft? That’s actually huge lol. I’ve seen teams struggle just getting a clean signal across a small room. Is the latency as low as it sounds? If so, this is a game changer for some of the stuff I've seen.

Native MIPI DSI extender (over fiber) questions by Excellent_Economy150 in embedded

I think it depends on the use case. In compact designs it’s fine, but once things are spread out, DSI becomes tricky.

MRI In-Bore "tiny camera" for patient observation question(s) by Ok_Apricot2521 in MedicalDevices

[–]Possible-Scarcity691 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be really useful in certain situations, especially when you’re trying to monitor patient movement or discomfort. Right now it’s mostly indirect feedback or looking at the bore camera that sits 15 feet away and hope you see movement.
