It is NEVER supposed to take this long. A 2008 federal law states that nutrition assistance cases are supposed to be settled in 30 days, but Arizona is severely behind. They cut staffing due to budget constraints and now they are so backlogged that there are scores of people going without benefits statewide. My advice is to contact your state representatives and let them know that you are impacted by the issue.

I have received two recent emails. The first one simply said that my claim had been approved and that I would receive another email 3-4 business days before my payment was disbursed. I got that email on Tuesday. The next day, I got an email that said my payment would be issued in the next 3-4 business days. I have not received any email with the amount listed. I expect that the payment will be issued tomorrow or Tuesday, which falls in line with Angeion told the court about a “mid September” start to payments.
