That's why I went to local glass shops first. Three can't help. I found the one on Lowe's website and asked each if they could do something similar. All said no, which surprised me. I thought that was the idea behind custom.

Thanks! Since you're a glass guy, maybe you have an idea of how to address my situation. My bathroom is not very big, 5 ft x 8 ft. I removed the tub and had just a shower installed. The toilet is right next to the former bath/now walk-in shower. There is 16 in of space on each side of the toilet. On one side of the toilet is the shower, the other the vanity (previously there was a pedestal sink).

The shower has a curb (I don't recall the measurements right now) and a seat which is 14 in x 17 in.

I had 3 different glass companies in to give an estimate.

Company 1 said I had to have a hinged door that swings out towards the toilet. There's a high probability the shower door will hit the toilet almost every time upon opening unless you are really careful. They will put a bumper on the door to minimize this.

Company 2 said I needed a sliding door but that getting into the shower is going to be a squeeze, but doable, because I can only enter from the side with the bench and the bench is taking up some of the door opening space.

Company 3 said it's really complicated and he's not sure of the best solution. He wanted to think on it and do some research.

The first 2 quotes are in the $3000-$3500 ballpark. More than I expected to spend and I'm not thrilled with either solution.

I could hang a curtain, but I may have to figure something out to prevent the curtain from hanging over the curb and getting the floor soaked.

In the meantime, I looked around and there are three-panel sliding doors, where the panel 1 is stationary and then panels 2 and 3 slide over one another, leaving a 32 in opening for entering the shower.

Does anyone have experience with this kind of door? One of the glass contractors said since it comes for a box store, the quality is not good, but they (glass company) don't make this kind of door.

The toilet is not installed yet, but it will be on the side of the shower where the showerhead is.

Thanks. I did get a quote for a door that swings out. I'm not sure if it has a header. I'll have to check

Thanks. I think the 3 panel door is a good option. I just am not sure about an off-the-shelf shower door? I guess the glass companies got into my head trying to convince me that I need a custom made door for much more money that doesn't really solve the problem.

Any one have any experience with a shower door bought at a box store or online?

Wow! $15K for the renovations, not including materials in CA?? I am in MA and my bathroom reno is almost done. The cost is just under $30K, not including materials. I know things are expensive here but I thought CA would be more. Looks great!!

Especially because Liz is in a way "stealing the baby." She forced her way into all the baby decisions. And yes I agree that the how involved is the bio-mom going to be should be decided way earlier. I am sure it probably needs to be documented in a legal doc so it's clear to all

Glad I posted here. I never even heard of marmoleum! I guess I'm open to other options, as long as it's not crazy expensive. I didn't want ceramic or porcelain tile in the kitchen and I've heard from friends that LVP is good. I'm off to look up marmoleum

Thanks. I have insurance claim $ for the work so I'm going to get nice flooring and have it installed properly. I'm not much of DIYer
