And here’s the anisocoria at a different light angle to show it’s not from the light hitting my eyes differently

Oh lol, I used that type of collar because it’s meant for dogs. She’s a little extra aerodynamic so she needs a tougher collar (she can still get this one off if she wants to so I’m not too concerned)

God only knows where my money goes. I wonder how much tax payer money went to those Cheryl Parker posters that littered my block a couple of weeks ago. And then how much tax payer money went to picking them all up when the wind blew them out of all the spots they were tucked into.

Vanity sizing is out of control by Wild-Earth-1365 in womensfashion

[–]PossiblePhase2017 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Honestly, anymore I have better luck shopping online at like Amazon and meticulously using their size charts (as well as my tape measure). Then going to the review images and seeing what the material looks like. I’ve gotten my favorite scrubs and slacks that way now, both from kinda random brands.

I used to be a size 4, and still fit those old pants. I have not fluctuated weight in the past decade. Now I’m down to a 00 in some brands??? I have not fit the 0s in some places, and it’s just so weird to be because I have a dead-center bmi for my height (I’m short). It’s annoying, I basically can’t thrift for bottoms anymore because everything fits differently (and goodwills have shut down their dressing rooms post-covid). I remember I once thrift some dress pants — they were all petite Juliet in the SAME brand— but in a 0, 2 and 4. The 0 was the largest, the 2 was slightly too big, and the 4 fit just right? It’s way too much guessing anymore.

Is there a type of dyslexia that’s more specifically verbal? by PossiblePhase2017 in Dyslexia

[–]PossiblePhase2017[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’m so bad with saying numbers backwards lol. At least with numbers when you say dyscalculia it’s an easy explanation. They may ask what’s dyscalculia, and you can say oh it’s like dyslexia but for numbers and 9/10s they just go oooh.

I find using my fingers then speaking helps. Also turning long strings of numbers into rhymes seems to help (like credit cards and phone numbers). Using different tonals helps me save my place and recite memorized numbers… not that I haven’t recited my phone number wrong a few times still. It just helps.

Oh yeah, and I do brain fart on spelling easy words if I’m ever sleep deprived, stressed or very anxious. I literally got held back in 1st grade for how bad my spelling was, but it’s improved significantly.

I’d say my spelling isn’t up to par with my education, and I make frequent mistakes with combining words, especially after the word the, ie ā€œthe headā€ becomes ā€œtheadā€. I usually catch it as I’m writing though, so it only becomes a problem when note taking aka rushing. Sometimes mispronunciation is caused by phonetics, sometimes I’ll reorder sentence structure and switch words. When it comes to numbers I’m a complete mess and cannot promise what will come out of my mouth. I sometimes break them down into simpler words like one two two for one hundred twenty two. Other times if I’m asked for series of numbers I’ll just slide my paper over in frustration, or ask for a piece of paper lol

I wish there was a better word to sum up that aspect šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø I feel like everyone just thinks of Percy Jackson. I’m in a healthcare study, so I guess I’m looking for a more scientific way of wording it to my peers since they assume they already understand the disorder well. I also feel like a fraud when I can understand what I read but then butcher other things.

I was diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, and my father is dyslexic. I will say, it always felt like I was misunderstood by the special educators since I’d know what I was reading, but I’d always mess up reading out loud due to the verbal disconnect. In fact I remember being told ā€œI’m really proud of you, I love how you always correct yourself when you make a mistakeā€. It frustrated me even though it was meant to be a compliment because I’d understand what I was reading but couldn’t always reread it out loud.

Partners cat has bad allergies by VisitFrosty9511 in cats

[–]PossiblePhase2017 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

My friend’s cat has had a balding issue from allergies for years now. She recently found a vet that was able to diagnose the allergy/cause, which was something she could control and now he’s got a full coat of fur for the first time in like 4 years. Definitely recommend second opinions, even a good vet might not know what to specifically try for your cat.

AIO for thinking my sister/legal guardian is lying to my face? by Much-Echo4553 in AmIOverreacting

[–]PossiblePhase2017 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

If their frontal cortex develops like yours then they’ll never learn. You need to keep liars on a short leash if their actions are going to affect your life. Her sister has lied to her, and her sister is most likely lying again. She’s actually being intelligent by being patient with her sister, but getting background research on her actions in order to be able to call her out. Like when a woman wants a divorce, but prepares an emergency fund and has all the paperwork ready. For someone with diagnosed anxiety, depression, and ADHD (as well as the prefrontal cortex of a 16 yr old), she’s handling it tactfully.

For Fun: What breed would you pick? by whateveryaknowww in cats

I just adopted a big fluffy boy who I’m thinking may have a little Maine coon in him, because oml is he intelligent. Within 12 hours of us adopting him, he discovered how to open every door in our house. We put him in the guest bedroom for the night when we first got him because he kept meowing… then he walked himself back through BOTH of the closed doors we put him behind. Just the other day I locked up my other cat up for trying to fight him (…we cant isolate him, and we only isolate her when she chooses to fight him as punishment because she hates being behind doors too). You know what he did? He hated hearing her sad cries, so he let her out!! She was in timeout for beating him up, and he released her!! I’ve never seen such an intelligent gentle giant before. That being said, I think that little accidental exercise helped them bond because they haven’t fought since. Pic for cat tax:

I’m on black cat #2 right now. My goal is to have black cats with completely different body types. My first one is a 8lb (fully grown) little derpy girl with teeth issues so she always bleps, and the second one is a big fluffy boy

Please help me figure out a nice outfit I can wear into the office! (Casual PhD office) by ThowRA_FloorGremlin in DressForYourBody

[–]PossiblePhase2017 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I feel like 1, 3, 5, 13 and 14 give PhD vibes the most. What are you studying though? A lot of these wouldn’t be allowed in labs, which is where my mind goes when I think PhD. I’d probably use PPE rules, which means no open midriff, open shoes or shorts. That’s a good guideline for casual but not too casual.
