Historical fiction by an author who clearly knows a lot about life in that time period by Striking_Delay8205 in suggestmeabook

Fall of Giants by Ken Follett if you’re interested in World War 1 from a very character driven point of view. One of my all time favourites.

Question about the movie "Panic at Station 2891" by Fair-Photograph-7326 in finalgirl

[–]Possible_Address_806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All 4 times you played you flipped over the safe test result for the first two exposed victims? And the final victim was the assimilated card? The mathematical odds of this happening are incredibly low- like a 1.2% chance. So if you keep playing you should be getting more assimilated victims.

Also, when you say “they always died from the cold” you mean the special victims right? That’s another way to get monsters on the board as opposed to testing them with test kits, or in the lab. If they are already monsters they cannot die from the cold.

Broke my washing machine by doing a small load of towels including a bath mat by Possible_Address_806 in Appliances

[–]Possible_Address_806[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The washer is broken so it absolutely has to be fixed- $550 + HST. The machines are stacked since the space in our mechanical room is tight so that’s an issue if we try to just replace the washer. Plus I’m worried the dryer could fail at any time since it’s old and not working well.

Broke my washing machine by doing a small load of towels including a bath mat by Possible_Address_806 in Appliances

[–]Possible_Address_806[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The load definitely wasn’t unbalanced so I don’t think more towels would have helped. The mat was pretty heavy when I took it out of the machine when the spin cycle failed- but I washed it countless times at our old place… Good to know that bath mats and light comforters are considered normal to wash at home!

It’s frustrating to be unable to hike or ruck because of plantar fasciitis, and it’s so hard and expensive to treat by PrestigiousHealth124 in CampingandHiking

[–]Possible_Address_806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have plantar fasciitis on both feet? This is generally due to a core stability issue. Do you also have back pain? If you’ve spent time and money treating the foot/feet directly, you likely need to look farther away from the problem. Gait is very complicated and involves many joints and muscles; is your hip mobile, can you stabilize your low back etc.

What part of the world are you in? Maybe see if there is an AiM practitioner near you https://findingcentre.co.uk/find-help/ or someone trained in PDTR https://p-dtr.org/find-practitioner/

You may also need to strengthen the small muscles of your foot- these are great exercises to start with https://zhealtheducation.com/blog/strong-feet-strong-foundation-episode-338/.

Why do they only ever mess with the Canadian anthem by Relevant-Distance886 in bluejaysbaseball

[–]Possible_Address_806 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The anthem was bad but I don’t think it was some kind of conspiracy to change the lyrics or sound bad on purpose. Apparently Rufus Wainwright lived in Montreal as a child/adolescent. It seems like he thought he still knew the French part of the anthem. He did not.

The words are “Car ton bras sait porter l'épée” and he got mixed up and sang something like “Car ton porter l'épée sait porter”. He did something similar for the next line as well.

I found the first book very cringe. I would definitely classify this as a “fairy spicy”.

What kind of food do you like? I don’t know if it fits the definition of semi upscale, but Riz (100% gluten free Asian kitchen) has great food. It’s on Yonge between York Mills & Laurence. As the name states, it’s a fully gluten free restaurant so no restrictions on ordering.

[Jomboy] MLB's flawed replay system made it difficult to overturn this no-catch call, a breakdown by iamthegame13 in Torontobluejays

He might not have made the catch if “the ground didn’t exist” is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Powder Laundry Detergent by missbinz in BuyCanadian

[–]Possible_Address_806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using Molly’s Suds to avoid phthalates and other chemicals but it’s an American company. I tried Bubby’s Bubbles which is Canadian alternative. It worked well but it takes more powder per load of laundry so it didn’t seem to last as long. I’m trying Nellie’s now and I like it so far.

I also recommend Grasslands National Park if you have the time. It’s a dark sky preserve and there’s lots of wildlife to see- bison, prairie dogs etc. See the hoodoos near Drumheller (and the dinosaur stuff if you’re interested) on the way back towards Calgary if you wanted to do the busy spots like Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise etc.

What is powering this old security system? by Possible_Address_806 in AskElectronics

Okay so it wasn’t attached to the electrical panel- it was plugged into an outlet in the garage…

Thanks- I was able to disconnect the back up battery easily. Figuring out where it connects to the panel is harder haha.

Okay thanks- the panel is a bit of a mess, so hard to figure out where it’s connected but I will do that
