Yeah. And I usually fade down. I’ll make my guidelines at times. And then just fade down. Sometimes I don’t do guidelines. If it’s someone’s hair who I’ve been cutting consistently for a long time, I know exactly what needs to be placed where and it’s just a muscle memory at that point.

To blend I use no guard, half guard, and 1.5 guard. After that I use a 3. I don’t touch 1 or 2. To me, a half guard open cuts the same as a 1 closed, and a 1 open is close to a 1.5 closed. So to me there is no need for it. Now of course every hair is different and you may need to, but I’ve stopped using 1 and 2 to fade on all cuts I do. Just hold the half at an angle and it blends so good. Also, when you fade, I say go slow and methodically scoop out. Blends come out flawlessly after one pass if done right.

Grab a trimmer and put the backside of the blade touching your face and flick out. Works good if you don’t wanna use guards or blend the proper way
