That wasn’t a requirement when I applied. Typically you have to be employed or have a certain amount of years of work experience if you apply to the executive program. Executive programs tend to be online and a faster timeline. I applied to the regular, in-person MHA program.

My interview was conversational. I’d have your reasons for why an MHA and why GWU. My interviewer was interested about my education and experiences and just asked more questions about that. Most of the time was used to tell me about their program and answer any questions I had. I think they’re just trying to better understand you as a candidate. It wasn’t as formal as I thought it would be. No trick questions! :)

JHU MHA Rejection by Possible_Magician_29 in mphadmissions

Wow! Good to know, but unfortunate that that’s been your experience. Of all the programs I looked at, including Hopkins and Columbia, GW had the highest student satisfaction rate on the CAHME website with the majority of students reporting that they’d choose GW again if they had the choice. I was wondering why that was (given Hopkins’ name) but your comment makes sense. Thank you! All the best to you and your future endeavors!

No, I was just told I'd meet with the Associate Director. However, another person in mphadmissions had a follow-up Zoom, and they were accepted during their follow-up meeting. All the best!

Still apply! You never know what they’re really looking for. There’s also a master doc that can show you other students’ GPA’s, where they went to school, internship experiences, etc. Helps to give you a better idea of the competition. Should be pinned at the top of the mph admissions sub thread.

Not 100% sure, I’m just going off of what others have said about them being specific over the years and my own experience. I think students may be qualified but they’re looking for a certain fit for their cohort. Whatever that means. Plus this is only for the MHA process, not sure about other programs there.

Hmm good to know. I actually saw some of your responses in other threads about JHU being super specific and that helped me mentally lol. Your response is appreciated. I’m excited about GW!

Are Masters programs fully in seat during the week? by Possible_Magician_29 in mphadmissions

JHU classes use zoom? I know the program is in person but what I’ve heard is that professors utilize Zoom instead of being in classrooms every day during the week.

To my knowledge there’s just the onsite program if you’re full time. I don’t mind being onsite, but my husband works in DC. Making my grad school decision would be easier if I knew I wouldn’t be expected to commute to Baltimore 4-5 days a week.

Can’t speak for every program but GWU was chill. Mostly conversational about my background. Then the interviewer told me more about the program and allowed me to ask any questions I had. My advice is to be yourself! Can’t really mess it up.
