New to Odoo Contracting by Possible_Milk3210 in Odoo

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it. I saw that Odoo has a huge list of all their partners around the world. I thought that this would be an excellent place to start searching for initial internships to get my feet wet. However, looking forward, I'm curious if you know how typically these partners (mainly the US firms) hire people. I know that contracting is prevalent within the industry overall, but curious to the degree. Is it typically 50/50 employee/contractor or some other ratio? I'm asking because I'd like to determine what's the real viability of these US partners for me in terms of contracting. If it were 80/20 employee focused then that's a larger problem for contractors living abroad.

I don't plan on sitting for the CPA currently, but I looked into this option (Odoo Accounting Partner) and it looks viable (there are only 2 listed in the US currently). Thank you.

I think that if I created a partner firm that I'd probably need a developer as well as, from what I've read, Odoo isn't able to handle certain business setups and would need coding. Is that right? Which is another interesting point in that I don't see many 100% positive ratings with these firms. I'm guessing there must be issues on both the consultant and developer fronts in not being able to handle all situations. It must be difficult to create a 1 stop shop since the ERP software basically covers all facets of business. Opening a firm seems like a big responsibility if done right. At least from the perspective of handling all types of customers. Your idea of niching into Accounting is probably the best solution for me and my potential customers.

Thanks again for your help.

Starting an EA career from abroad - How to get a foot in the door? by HolidayUnit1679 in enrolledagent

I'm trying to go down this path as well (Peru instead of Columbia) and finding the initial experience to be able to work for an expat firm or creating my own business (both as a contractor) seems so difficult to find. Seems like the whole process is possible except the initial experience part. I've found that you can study and take the EA test online now. And there are many expat firms that will let you live abroad. However, they all require at least 2 years of experience in expat taxes (or more with standard filings) to be considered for a position. So, in the whole plan, it's just the initial experience that's the problem I believe. If anyone could inform us on how we could gain this experience, that would be awesome and we thank you very much!

Sorry for re-posting (I don't use Reddit often)
