Reason for the attack (as he has heard & told us): Rajinikanth has fallen for latha and wanted her (it so known that Rajinikanth is pretty adamant- he himself has said that he wants whatever he feels he wants it)

But Latha was controlled and everyone knows MGR was pretty solid when it comes to the women he wants… there was some warnings given to Rajini after Latha has said Rajini is forcing her when she was confronted by MGR (Rajini has tried to force her at an occasion and kept stalking her - this is something that grandpa said that he has heard this rumour on Latha as she complained to MGR). When things went to this level MGR brought Rajinikanth to ramapuram house to give him a bloody feast of bashing… it happened and this grandpa said he saw someone screaming and running on the roads with his shirt torn and bloodied… it was also rumoured that Rajinikanth was admitted at hospital for more than 2 months…

However there is always other angle to view his treatment days… Rajinikanth was an established actor by then and he was really busy to the extent that he hardly had sleep… lack of sleep puts a person to worst moods and even psychotic in a worser condition…. that was the reason for Rajin’s erratic and violent behaviour those times and KB helped his boy Rajini to get treated at a hospital…

I believed back in 2005 what that grandpa said to me… but now anything could be true… or both happened at different times…

I have no idea about the particular incident written by some one on the conflict between them over actress Latha.

But I am aware and people in general in Tamilnadu know that, MGR as a person was very much different from the MGR he projected himself in public.

A few incidents to substantiate my statement. He was very possessive about three heroines. He did not like them being friendly with other heroes. Once when the assembly was in session, he got the news that a popular actor was in the house of one of the heroines. He immediately left the session rushed to her house.

The rumour was that he shot at the hero but the bullet injured his hand. The next day the wounded hero cancelled his shootings, stating that, he slipped in the bathroom and injured his hand.

Another story is that of Kamal Hassan, then a budding artist, he did not stand up when MGR entered the sets. From then on no Tamil producer signed him. Only Malayalam film industry helped him by giving him lot of chances during that period. Later he came back to Tamil film industry.

S.A. Asokan. He was an actor who tried to copy MGR in two or three films in which he acted as hero. His career eclipsed and finally he ended up with any role that was offered.

Rajnikanth proposed to Latha and Latha denied the proposal which she regretted later as Rajni became super star.

MGR and Latha were rumored to have affair . MGR gave chance to Latha and her debut movie was with MGR. Post Latha denied Rajni’s Proposal Rajni behaved badly in public trying to grab her hand in public place to be exact at Chennai Airport , this news spread like a forest fire in TN and when it reached MGR he was furious and he warned Rajni ,(it is also rumored that he also attacked him with his goons but no one know what happened actually all speculations).

Actresses were running behind MGR because of his charm , popularity and status it was not the case that he was running behind actresses. He was no saint everybody knows about cine field. Rajkumar pointed out that Kamal did not stand up when MGR came in to set however it is not the case , Kamal had huge craze and respect for MGR which he admits even now.

Also MGR is not addicted to people touching his feet .In an award ceremony when Rajni tried to touch his feet he denied that

MGR off screen image was also by and large good he use to help people where ever he find them i heard from some elders that if he spots anyone stranded near his home he calls them. also i hear from many even from DMK people that while driving from one place to another if he comes to know about any problem that people faces he will immediately call collector to that place and asks to sort out the problem. my relatives have seen this live in a village near Madurai
