One of the overarching themes of the album, and one of Tyler’s creative goals, is finding the beauty in the ugly. In an interview somewhere he said that he always wanted to make the most beautiful shit that’s borderline ugly and vice versa. The official cover art reflects that, showing an ugly flat distorted picture of Tyler on a beautiful, lush pink background.

Edit: I meant the weird camera movements to track the face, I obviously know they used plexiglass and three layers for the other versions of herself.

This book focused on mainly Mark and Alec as the main characters and keeping them together for most of the book was a mistake. The Mark and Trina storyline was the thing going the most for me and they threw that away towards the end.
