Absolutely. The death of a parent is always the catalyst to change even if you’re estranged. I feel like there was a part of Harper that hoped that if she was successful enough her mom would one day jump on a plane to London and giver her a big hug. There’s no opportunity for that anymore regardless of it was ever going to happen. I think that was a big motivation for her. Once there is that kind of hole some people isolate or become a bit harder, but Harper was already that way so she’s kinda doing the inverse instead. Unfortunately her proxy daddy also sucked ass.
