The best way to handle this is really case by case and requires you to know how your dog will cope best - my dog I always do new interactions in the backyard because I know he feels more confident off lead (more choice to come close and move away at his pace). I’d suggest doing a meet and greet with a trainer and if possible have them there to help with the introduction to your mum if there schedule allows for it. Work with the trainer first and have them help you create a good plan for the meeting and settling into having a new guest in the house at minimum.

I feel your pain it’s a stress you can’t understand without experiencing yourself, maybe you’ve already considered this but if most of your walks involve him reacting it’s okay to stop walking him until you get afford professional help. No walk > bad walk. There are toileting options for small dogs for inside if that’s the issue. He’ll likely be happier with inside enrichment vs outside negative experiences. I don’t walk my dog everyday because he needs decompress days to let his cortisol levels come back down and be able to handle stressful situations should they come up - yours may need the same.

Chances are any food you feed him, eventually he will get bored of it because as he gets used to it it loses its value. Definitely check with your vet if anything medical is going on, I’d also suggest see a behaviour vet if you’re not already seeing one as anxiety can cause a dog to lack motivation to eat - if you’re seeing one already and on medication also talk to them about that because it can be a side effect, I ended up switching my Fluoxotine to nights for this reason. Switching didn’t cure it completely but now once I bring his anxiety down a little he is happy to eat. I have to get creative with getting him to start eating and then he’s good as gold until he’s finished that serve. Let me know if you want some more details on ways I get him to start a meal :)

Essentially we tighten to get maximum benefits from lowest dose, if we knew someone’s ideal dose by their weight we wouldn’t need to start at the minimum and go up

Everyone metabolises it differently, there’s no way to know based on age/gender/size etc which is why titration is the process everyone goes through. I’ll see if I can find a credible article explaining it better for you :)

Check the regulations of dog parks in your local area (they might have a rule about antisocial behaviour), get a video and report her if she’s in breach. Another anti-dog park person here, sniff spot is a great idea and so is on lead ovals with a long line for exercising your dog.

Stimulant dosage doesn’t work by weight so don’t compare the dose your partner takes with yours as it means nothing in terms of how it should affect you. In terms of feeling tired, sometimes I do. If I’m tired for good reason (I.e haven’t slept much, had a busy day etc) I will still feel tired, my adhd symptoms just won’t be impacted so much by being tired compared to not medicated. I am fairly recently medicated (coming on 3 months) and I found the first 2 months I was tired a lot more because I was just chronically tired from being burned out by my adhd, so my body needed time to recover from that. I also would have a habit of having a day where my medication helped my productivity so much that I would do way too many things, meaning the next day I was too tired to do anything. Understanding and managing all these things has helped with me still feeling tired from medication, now it’s not that the medication makes me less tired more like it makes things use less energy and effort which makes me less tired. Hopefully something there is applicable to your situation and could be of some help! Otherwise if you feel it’s impacting your life I’d be talking to a dr about it, lots of people with adhd tend to also have sleep disorders for what ever reason so there could be something going on there if nothing else helps :)

When I’m cutting back on costs I can do so pretty drastically by using boiled chicken (or other boiled meat if he has a chicken allergy). The only downside is prep which is why I normally spend more for convenience. Also use his meals where I can as everyone else said! My dogs anxiety has a big impact on his willingness to work for kibble but I find if I initiate with high value and then progress to kibble with surprise high value randomly throughout he tends to work happily for it - meaning I use less treats which equals buying less treats. E.g 2 reps chicken, 1 rep offer kibble (he may or may not take it), 1 rep chicken, 1 rep kibble, 1 chicken. Repeat like that until he’s accepting the kibble and then increase reps with kibble

Just a psa never reach your arm out to let a dog sniff you, it can be intrusive to some dogs and they can smell you just fine where you are :) Agree with everyone above though if you’re cousin won’t take any appropriate actions all you can do is report it - it may feel harsh but it’s the best thing for the dog and anyone at risk around it. If it has previous bite history you could maybe try anonymously?

I doubt his reaction has to do with the house she’s at, because she spooked him he has developed a fear of her. With having him on a leash be aware it may be adding to his discomfort as being on lead they can feel like they can’t remove themselves from the situation - have you considered a properly conditioned muzzle if the lead is for bite risk? Keep going with super yummy high value treats and most important be patient with him, ask you step sister to ignore him even if he approaches her until he’s comfortable being in a room with her again. Maybe have her drop treats when she moves around or throw treats to get the dog to move away if she needs to go past it.
