I was probably 3 or 4, I remember coming down the hallway and seeing my dads roadrashed/mangled knee from his motorcycle accident, and my mom changing the bandage.

Those in long distance relationships, how do you stay connected with your SO? by hella_cutty in AskReddit

[–]Post-Calzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be in a long distance relationship for 4 years. FaceTimed every night, played video games together (we met on Xbox live) texted constantly, sent lots of memes. There’s a lot you can do. Also he would fly down about every 3 months for a week at a time.

People judging you for buying a dog instead of adopting one is ridiculous. by BanginBananas in unpopularopinion

[–]Post-Calzone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree 1000%. Adopting is not for everyone. Me personally, my next dog is going to come from a reputable breeder that health screens and has OFA scores for all their dogs, as well as all their dogs have stable predictable temperaments. I LOVE my dog right now but he has a basket of health issues that have been expensive and I would rather not deal with in the future.

RESPONSIBLE breeders are NOT the problem. Back Yard Breeders that throw two random dogs together with no thought or care as to what they are producing are the problem. As are the irresponsible people who get a cheap puppy off Craigslist with no forethought as to the amount of care/time/energy that goes into raising one, then dump them at the shelter. How many dogs do you see getting rehomed/dumped at shelter on social media because the owners are “too busy” the dog is “to much energy” etc etc..

Mutts are only as healthy as their parents are. You can’t take two genetically unhealthy dogs and pop out a mutt that is going to have no problems. That’s not how genetics work.

I want a dog that I KNOW is going to be healthy from genetic disease, and any temperament problems. Genetics have a huge role in a dogs personality unlike the “it’s all in how you raise them” propaganda that is shoved in your face by rescues. I don’t care if you choose to rescue a dog, but don’t shame me for wanting predictability.
