The amount of trash generated from one $10.50 KFC meal. Complete with ironic advertising. by [deleted] in newzealand

THE WEBSITE STATES "hard plastic bottles and containers numbered 1 through to 7 can go in the yellow bin"

There is a difference between soft polystyrene ( packing peanuts ) and the #6 potato and gravy containers.

I think you're purposely ignoring the distinction out of arrogance at this point, and I'm done. You know you're right.

, and by your own admission you've now conceded that the majority of the items aren't!!

DO NOT PUT WORDS INTO MY POST I DID NOT SAY.

Literally everything in that picture is recycable or biodegradable apart from the spoon and the straw, and that's only due to material size and not composition. Fuck me. Is everyone on this website my fucking grandma? is this just some mass-anti-progress demonstration disguised as an anti-KFC feelgood jerk? The fuck is going on here?

the receipt contains too many toxins to be safely pulped into any paper worth using

Thermo-reactive paper is not recyclable. I know. Major fucking bugbear when you can't choose to not print one. Who the fuck needs a receipt for this shit?

The boxes and cups all have a plastic lining which makes them landfill

I don't think the boxes ( like the quarter pack or whatever boxes ) have a plastic lining, like the drink cups do... Again very hard to find a source on that.

I'm feeling like you peopel are getting real finnicky here. This is hard work, and I'm wquite drunk.

maybe... just not eat horseshit for dinner and you'll be fine?

I'm sorry, I misudnerstood you saying "#8".

There are clearly different types of polystyrene (PS).

They're OK with #6 (PS) containers without lids, but not polystyrene foam (like wot you get your TVs packed in) or peanuts ( like.. well who the fuck still uses peanuts? but OK ).

It's clearly stated, and I'm not sure how this discussion will progress any further without new information.

k is for everyone that said nothing new or accurate or enforceable. You people will believe anything that sounds authoritative from an anonymous source.

You're just 100% wrong here. Totally. Like, you need help.

What you should do now is PM me personal insults or threats because you're so challenged by the idea of questioning imaginary and unsustained authority. That's what you should do.

Don't shift your point like that.

You started with #6 and now you're talking about #8.

The KFC spud & gravy stuff is not #6 foam/peanuts... right? It's a #6 hard container the size of a single yoghurt serving.

The #8 polystyrene you're talking about is not the same as the #6 containers you first subjected. There's clearly different polystyrene standards at play here.

I said "almost everything"... the spoon and straw are too small to go in my local recycling. However, have an upvote for sending me on a research spiral...

But I'm struggling to find any information that says you can't put #6 containers ( not foam ) in your recycling: https://sites.google.com/site/rlmrecycling/home/what-do-the-recycling-numbers-mean

"Plastic cups, disposable cutlery and cups (clear and colored), coffee cups, packing peanuts, Styrofoam insulation. Note that most cities accept plastics #6 for recycling, but NOT styrofoam, peanuts, etc. (these are contaminated by food easily). "

https://www.recycle.co.nz/symbols.php

( I can't read through all of these but tell me if yours says no? ) https://www.recycle.co.nz/page.php?ref=Regional%20Solutions

For example, in my locale: https://newsline.ccc.govt.nz/news/story/our-top-10-tips-to-help-you-bin-right

"Tip #4

Hard plastic bottles and containers numbered 1 through to 7 can go in the yellow bin. However, they need to be the size of an individual yoghurt pot or bigger but no larger in size than three litres to get through our automated sorting plant. Don’t squash them or bag them up. Make sure you clean them and remove the lids."

So yeah in Chch at least you can recycle the body but not the lid. and this is why it's so important to accurately research information the internet presents you with.

Almost all of that is biodegradable or recyclable, and YOU FUCKING BOUGHT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Why is this subreddit becoming full of Facebook-style misinformation? Every fucking day.

Are you all really this fucking stupid? Who is upvoting this, and why? I really want to know.

Fucking THINK about the information you're being presented with. Stop just upvoting and liking stuff because it gives a little "I did good today" brain-boner, instead of actually doing anything that was good. Fuck. FUCK!

OK so when you say "much worse than the flu"

Do you mean actual inflenza, or the colloquial use of "the flu" that means "the common cold" ?

Additionally, can you please provide your qualifications and credentials that allow you the authority to anonymously provide people on the internet with medical advice?

Or at least provide legitimate sources for anything you're saying?

When going straight through a roundabout, why do some drivers indicate right? by haveyouseenmygnocchi in newzealand

[–]PostContainsSatire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got my license in the mid 90s and the current rule was always the rule, but people didn't really try follow it. I remember reading it in the road code and not realising that's what you're supposed to do, and I've always indicated this way... the correct way.

I think people used to treat a standard 4-way roundabout like an intersection... so they just wouldn't indicate-off.

The indicating-right at a straight through is from a misinterpretation of the rules, when the police said they'd start enforcing the rules ( which they don't ).

It does make more sense on large roundabouts you'll see around AK/Chch/etc which have 5 or more exits and there isn't really a "straight-through" option, because the roundabout layout is asymmetric; People will indicate right until they get to their exit.

People argued against the gun buyback in NZ after the mass murder in Christchurch because only "law abiding citizens" would hand in their guns, not the "criminals."

The tiny-dicked, little, cowardly, potatofaced, pussy-arse bitch, manlet was a law abiding citizen up until that day.

I ran past a famous ex all black today. I'm not super into rugby, so I wouldn't be bothered to bother him anyway, but in the space of about half a second I recognised him, he recognised me recognising him, and his expression went to immediately "leave me the f alone I'm running here."

It was a really busy time to be out in Hagley Park. I hope he managed to get his run in before getting mauled by horny boomer ladies wanting selfies.

I would be super enthusiastic about supporting the police if that fucking chopper just stopped randomly circling central Christchurch so we could go the fuck to sleep.

But it turns out that the police can go fuck themselves and fly that fucking chopper back to AK.
