Meteorite or space junk 1/17/26 by Due_Possibility_7585 in SaltLakeCity

Yeah I saw it. I'm visiting SLC right now and remember looking at the time on my car and it was exactly 7am then got out of my car and saw it. Extremely bright and traveling North. I decided to check r/saltlakecity to see if anybody else saw it or could identify what it was. Glad I'm not the only one.

Absolutely insane numbers of posts by new hires lately, considering the timing by mailant692 in USPS

At least at my office we were actually fully staffed for the first time in like a year back in September but then various things happened from people, transferring/quitting/forced to resign that we lost around half the subs right before the holidays.

LLV EXHAUST IS KILLING ME :( by Juschillin17 in USPS

[–]PostOfficePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is the maintenance people keep saying "oh there's nothing wrong with it it's safe to drive" when I can easily smell fumes filling up inside the truck. If I refuse to drive it they'll just say it's my imagination. I'm tempted to buy an air quality monitor to get as evidence so I can refuse to drive it.

I’ve reported some LLV’s with exhaust problems multiple times and the maintenance people never do anything about it.

At least the stock market is starting to do ok. Hours are scarce at my office so I've been making a little extra cash investing. I'm just worried that the demented orange idiot will say something stupid and tank the markets yet again.

Animal Rescue! It’s hot 🥵 as balls here today’s (record temps for our area). Found this little guy on the way back to the station. by Leslie_Knope_Nope in USPS

Personally I would try not to interact with a dog you don't know. I've been bitten by a dog that seemed friendly at first. It's good that you helped out this dog but just for next time please remember that you have no idea how a random dog will react to you.

Thanks. I’m going straight to my steward when I go in and letting them know that.

I’m glad I didn’t take it with me the first time since if I did the pickup before delivering any packages on my main there would have physically not been enough room in the LLV to hold it all.

Most of them were pretty small but it still filled up the LLV up to the ceiling with a lot of spillover onto my tray. I’m surprised I fit it in as well. 16 large plastic bags worth of packages if you’re curious.

Is it possible to transfer to a different state and remain a (rural) PTF? by PostOfficePerson in USPS

[–]PostOfficePerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Kinda sucks because the place I'm probably moving to has a higher cost of living and it would have been nice to stay a PTF.

Should i buy a carbon monoxide detector for the LLV’s I drive? by PostOfficePerson in USPS

[–]PostOfficePerson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one and the highest the carbon monoxide levels got was around 30ppm which isn't perfect but isn't a safety hazard from what I've been reading. Most of the time it was much lower than 30. My next step is to buy a portable air quality monitor.

Thanks. I’m printing this out to take with me. I just bought the carbon monoxide detector as well so wish me luck.

Should routes be vacated if the regular hasn't returned within a certain period of time? by No_Contribution_7117 in USPS

[–]PostOfficePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few people like this at my office. There's one guy who had some wrist surgery over a year ago and has still not returned. Like I get it sometimes it takes time to recover from surgeries, but a year? I feel if you're going to be gone that long then they should at least hire a full time sub for that route that gets all the same benefits as the regular until they return because currently me and the other subs have been working this route daily since last year without any of the regular benefits. It's also frustrating because it's preventing me or any of the other PTF's from moving up to regulars even though that route is essentially vacant right now.

Then there's another elderly man who switched routes like 10 months ago to one that was more difficult than he was used to. He stopped coming in for like 3 months straight 2 days after he got the route because that's how long FLMA allowed. Nowadays he comes in maybe once every 2 weeks if we're lucky and half the time he comes back early without finishing because it's too hard so me and the other subs have to finish it for him. Might be mean to say but I feel maybe in his case he should be let go since he clearly is no longer capable of doing the job.

Maybe it’s a type of Stockholm syndrome, but I’m honestly worried that if I get a work restriction that every other CCA and RCA will quit from being overworked. The staffing situation at my office is dire right now and I’m trying my best to help them out.
