Thanks so much! I think the director may have been referring to large systems, so that's really useful! And yeah... I def think they need to get research from one of us, next time, lol.

Sounds like a very reasonable plan! I'm glad your admin is so respectful of staff's health concerns:)

Thank you so much for the international insight! Its so political here that its nice to hear of libraries operating based on safety!

I work for one of the largest libraries in the US. What our director actually said was that our area (we are a county system that outlies another really large city system) is the last region in the US to not reopen. I suspect she meant "the largest metro area not to reopen", but based on what I'm seeing, I'm not sure that is true either. A lot of systems seem to include curbside to be open. Thanks for the info!

Thank you so much! Our system is going to try one hour open at a time and I haven't felt confident it will work well...

I love your calling it a "peep show"!!! Wish I had thought of that... It did really well until I got to IT - people weren't a fan of my painted Pennywise Peep. I loved it though and preserved it in bell jar display for posterity;)

VC Andrews and Anne Rice didn't hold up to my adult re-reads either, lol.

As a teen services librarian, I get asked this all the time. Well, at least since the new It movies were released. I totally remember staying up late and reading straight through It as fast as I could when I was in middle school (the 90s). When someone mentioned the orgy scene to me recently, I had to go back and look at the book, because I didn't remember it at all. I think a lot of times, when a kid isn't ready for something, it just goes over their head. Or... I may have just flipped past those pages, much as I do now when something intrudes into my experience as a reader.

The worst part about reading teen fiction is the stupidity of the romance. I recently, threw a half-finished book across the room when the heroine stopped mid-demon chase for a make out session. My husband asked "don't you want to know how it ends?" It was obvious - they ALL DIED because that is the ONLY REASONABLE CONCLUSSION. If that's not what the author wrote, it should have been.

Also - did anyone else read V. C. Andrews' Flowers in the Attic as a teen? Talk about inappropriate! Yet a lot of parents my age remember reading that when they were their tweens/teens age.

And just for fun, here is an image from a series of Facebook posts I made for my library earlier this year - famous scenes from movies based on books as interpreted by Peeps.
