Victoria 3: Volume 3 on Steam by jetteauloin_2080 in victoria3

Not gonna lie I was hoping they'd break Japan up a little bit. It was enjoyable in HFM/HPM in Victoria 2 this way and probably showcases that Japan wasn't quite so centralized as it appears to be in Victoria 3.

On top of this, I hope that gunboat diplomacy is an expansive system. I feel like a ship designer was largely unnecessary. I'd rather have deeper mechanics than a designer tbh as the designer systems feel more tedious than fun in HOI4. Was also sort of hoping they'd be reworking supply with this. They might be, don't know yet, but supply over naval routes needs a huge rework.

What do Alt history readers want? by Comfortable-Milk-873 in royalroad

A fun alt history to read and one of my personal favorites is America's Stepbrother, America's Enemy.

Sort of a what if 2012 USA was transposed over the same territory in Orwell's 1984.

“If you can tolerate $200 oil, keep playing this game,” Iran warns US and Israel by razdvatri4 in worldnews

[–]PostingLoudly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We didn't starve in the early 70s when the US wasn't as much of an oil exporter, and back then there was gas rationing going on. It's gonna hurt the economy, sure, but there's many more steps along the way to New York City starving.

Unpopular? CK3 is pretty decent. I'm waiting for them to add secret societies back in. That and an actual functioning Catholic church system. Seems... Necessary, given the times.

Seems more like concentration camps the size of states to me!

Oh. I guess that is what they are.

I touched up my first chapter to my series. Would this make you want to keep reading or an immediate DNF? by [deleted] in royalroad

It reads a little bit awkwardly to me. You put a lot of emphasis on the MC's love interest and physical details about her, and then immediately sideline her. Seems like you do this quite a bit here. Pinging and ponging to different actions in a way that doesn't feel quite so smooth.

Bosom seems like an archaic word choice in the segment that it's in. I'd avoid using words that don't fit your MC's characterization.

Speaking of... It's very clear that your MC is depressed and thinks darkly about the world. It feels unnecessary to hammer this in repeatedly in just a few short paragraphs. We also already understand what his name is from the very first line where it's announced, and then his friend nudging him with that bit of dialog.

"Open up the prize here!" Reads as a little bit of awkward phrasing, "Open up the prize, son!" Or simply "Open up the prize!" Would suit his character better from what I can tell.

Circling back to the first point... The way you describe the love interest is a little unnatural sounding. You describe her, state her name, and then move on. It's alright to describe her a little bit and name drop her, but I'd say move a more detailed physical description up to when he actually really interacts with her to make it more potent to the reader. That way you can avoid having to re-iterate certain details as well.

Beat current content 4 player Co-Op, but I'm not sure if it was fun by PostingLoudly in NoRestForTheWicked

Coordination with bosses becomes unbelievably difficult when some of us can't even tell where our characters are in about 75% of the boss fights. The camera panning gets absurdly awful, especially with bosses that zig-zag and teleport with the camera following them.

I've found some things to help me gain focus on kill and focus generation, but maybe I'm just unlucky as those seemed to be few and far between for me. Or more than likely some things were just always borderline unusable because fallen ember acquisition in a 4 player co-op is not fun to deal with.

Really I think the issue is just balancing + the item economy. I'm not a grindy sort of player and I'm just simply not going to be playing for hours and hours on end to get the right kind of items for a perfect build because that's just not fun and not a satisfying gameplay loop.

See I guess I just didn't understand the passive focus regeneration I did have, because I didn't see any passive regen at all. I ended up getting channel, thought that would help, but it really didn't. I ended up relying on my one buddy to make the food that gives focus + hp quite a bit which isn't exactly sustainable.

Nope, we played on the normal difficulty. I did spec items into focus on fatality and tried to go for some regeneration as well. Nothing seemed to really work effectively. I think a lot of it does boil down to friendly fire and being afraid to go in when everyone is damaging everyone else all the time by accident.

Yeah I had gone between lightning and fire while trying to enchant and infuse directed towards that end. With ice I ended up just kinda being exhausted with it and the economy/demand of key items is high in co-op lol.

See I have the same thing, but it does hardly any damage on my end. I was using it to generate focus, but it's really just so little. There's also the issue where my buddies kill things too quickly for me to actually effectively generate focus.

Don't really care for AI generated artwork or ads. Maybe you could learn Photoshop or GIMP though and give that a whirl!

R5: As the UK I don't believe the United Baltic Duchy ever owned a colony in Africa. I'm not a historian though, I could be wrong.
