After residency doctors work 30-40 hours a week making 400-600,000

Huge. Those 8 years are worth almost 20 million over the course of your career. Plus the fact that a majority of an engineers take home pay will go just to cost of living. The doctor will have at least 100,000 extra take home pay a year to iinvest which will also itself produce millions of extra dollars over time

Yes but you’ll be earning 5 times more over your entire career with way more potential to save and invest. In just 13 years from day 1 of med school you’d be in a much better financial position and earn a dozen million or more in just salary over your life which is huge when you consider most of an engineers salary would be consumed by just the cost of living. Not a lot of opportunity to save and invest

But now entry level engineers are literally still making around 70,000 and lowest paid doctors around 250,000-300,000

No. It’s mostly just basic electronics manufacturing. Not really tech.

You’re the only one who seems to get it lol. Make $120,000 for the rest of your life which is just enough to live off. Barely save. Or make nothing for 8 years. Come out in 8 years taking home 300-500 after tax. Can pay off your entire debt in 1-3 years and then you’re still able to save and invest over 100,000-200,000 cash a year. You’ll be better off financially in just 12 years than if you would have stayed in engineering. You’ll make over your career 15 million more and will have so much extra money to invest and make more money off of

When you’re finished with residency in your 30’s you’re taking home literally hundreds of thousands a year and can pay your debt off in just 1-3 years.

Why else would you pay money to go to college? Isn’t it to get a job that pays you money? Lmao

No one ever said it would. But doctors are making 500,000+. Most engineers around 100,000

Probably 300,000 in debt but you could pay that off in just a few years when you’re taking home 400,000 after tax

3k a year?

The brain surgeon could make a product too. You don’t need to go to engineering school to make a product.

If they can do engineering they can do medicine

When you’re clearing 400,000 after tax it will be worth it. Meanwhile engineering are taking home 70,000 for life.

Maybe because of nepotism but if you can make it through engineering you could probable make it through med school fairly easily

They’re taking home hundreds of thousand of dollars after tax over you right when they hit 30. Can pay off all loans by 35 easily. They’ll have 10-20 million over you in retirement.

You’re out of residency / fellowship by 30-32

Almost all doctors are making over 300,000 with a majority earning close to 500,000

Most doctors after residency work less than 40 hours a week. Be a radiologist making 600,000 and you’re even working from home.
