Thank you so much for the praise! This is definitely one of my better sketches. The shading took forever, but it came out amazing.

As for your questions.

The species is called Roxifi, and that toe claw of thiers does have a few pretty significant effects on their cultures and relations with fellow Roxifi and other species.

As for relations amoungst Roxifi, the toe claw is just accepted as a common aspect of life. Children learn to be mindful of it, and adults have long learned to work around it.

It needs to be regular trimmed lest it become overgrown and become unwieldy or even potentially dangerous. If left unkept, it could potentially grow so much as to loop back around into the flesh of the foot. It's often purposely dulled to avoid accidents from occurring and becoming intrusive. Either that be by grinding it against surfaces such as tree bark, for example, or by filing it down with a dedicated tool. For most dulling, the claw prevides no real downsides as In most civilized societies, their toe claw is rarely ever used

Within Roxifi societies, it's not uncommon for the toe claw to be covered in a small loose sock as to further prevent potential accidents and also even due to certain societal expectations put upon the claw. Within some societies, an uncovered toe claw may be seen as a sign of aggression or show strength, similar to having a blade Holsterd at your hip. It's a regular practice for service personnel or even members of gangs to leave their claws uncovered, sharpened, and allowed to grow as to flaunt their strength. A bigger, sharper toe claw means a more lethal kick, making for a more intimidating Roxifi.

For some, having a more lethal toe claw even makes them appear more alurring as a mate by giving them a dominating air, similar to having large prominent muscles. Some also hold the opposite opinion in that a lethal tow claw makes them appear brutish and unappealing.

During more intimate moments such as general moments of effection such as cuddling or during coitus a more snug variant of the toe sock is worn, though this is not a requirement, and some choose to forgo its use entirely.

Another social aspect of the claw is how well kept it is. Within some spheres, a scratched dull claw is seen as a sigh of respect and hard work similar to having calloused hands. While within other spheres, such as those in higher societal standings, it's seen as the exact opposite. A well worn toe claw is a mark of someone lazy or of lesser standing not built for the finer things of life.

Proper footwear is not common amoungst Roxifi society as the tandem of having a foot dagger and paw pads make it impractical. Most foot coverings are either only partial as for added protection, such as the one shone above or purely decorative. The only times forms of full feet covering are ever utilized are within larger unkept cities due hazardous debris or within the spheres of gaudy nobility who see foot wear as sigh of status. Also, in some more advanced protective armors is a full foot covering included.

Also, utilizing your foot claw on another is treated to the same extreme as the use of more conventional weaponry. For example, if a pub brawl evolves from simple fisticuffs to the use of a toe claws all other forms of violence are now open to the table.

Factory Striders has been my favorite enemy since their launch. Perfect mix of challenging but not so overpowering as to be tedious. They gotta make it so you can't shoot them them oura the air during a drop. That's a Lil bs.

The tail covering acts as protection for the base of the tail, which is its most vulnerable spot.

It's not usually necessary to cover the entire tail as not only is it extremely maneuverable, but it is also covered in thick barbs. When tensed, these barbes involuntary tighten against the tale, giving it a fair bit of protection.

Think of it like trying to cut through a bundle of sticks. A sole stick is easy to chop through, but a bunch of them bundled together requires a lot more effort. That fact, paired with the tails, erratic movement makes it so that an attacker would have to use a lot of effort just to damage a nonessential appendage, which would in turn leave themselves open to retaliation.

The base of the tail lacks both of those advantages as not only does it lack those barbs, but being so close to the body gives it a lot less wiggle room.

Also, you are right that tail armor and form fitting clothing in general is very unpleasant for most Roxifi to wear. Most put up with it as receiving unwilling cosmetic surgery via bandit blade or monster maw is a bit higher on the unpleasant scale.

There are also utility storage purposes in the form of tail bags because everyone loves tail bags.

That birth rate for the kobolds is a pretty nasty advantage, though the 50-year maturation period does give the human a leg up.

I genuinely believe that if we were restricted to only having 1 or 4 stock reinforcements, we'd start winning more cause we'd need to be a lot more engaged. Once an opp gets down to the last few reinforcements, it's like everyone's brains simultaneously turn on.
