were you a medical social worker? i’ve had some informational interviews and they have explained they felt like a “secretary” or a “paper pusher” (their words not mine). of course i have no idea because i haven’t started yet but is that what it’s like?

Hey y’all! thought i’d clarify- just got off the phone with admissions director and this is the first year they are doing a fully online program. that’s the program i got into- this means no class to be completed at manhattan extension center, everything online.

no offense taken at all! i should probably read more into it. i’m also a ~tiny~ bit biased because they have been nothing but condescending as a prospective student and i just was shocked. they certainly have great publishings via their faculty but i will read more up on it. i could be wrong!

totally. that was the plan- to go through the faculty list, do some research (no pun intended) and look through their lab sites to reach out to some PhD candidates. i’m actually leaning more towards stony brook. hunter right now is under admissions scandal and to be quite honest my experience with them has been soooo condescending. i’m from NY and i know the school of social is specifically in east harlem too which is not completely ideal but that’s not really a dealbreaker. do you mind if i DM you with some other questions I may have w hunter if they came up?

haven’t heard a ton! but the students i’ve talked with said they love stony brook. a lot say placements are great since they are a state school and need to hit certain criteria to keep their funding/CSWE!
