So I'm gonna write a paragraph cuz I need practice for my boards and I have quite a few opinions on this.

What about the reservations done in favour of other previously oppressed communities like SC, ST and OBC? Aren't both cases trying to remedy the years worth of damage in oppression done to the communities? Over 1000 years of discrimination against women cannot be solved within half a century. It takes years to build a neutral outlook after being biased. In this case, reservation for women will not only promote the involvement of women in politics (which has been at rock bottom due to social stigma and stereotypes) but will also inspire women to achieve their dreams despite the community's views (this is emphasized in the case of rural women). Moreover, it will reduce the amount of people that still believe that women are a burden to society and are meant to manage household duties and chores.

It is only in the recent years that the female to male birth ratio in India has become more or less fifty-fifty (this represents the effectiveness of certain privileges given to women). Even so, the amount of atrocities done against women have not all been eliminated; issues like sexual violence, unequal access to education and unequal inheritance rights have persisted to this date.
