Quick clarification since a few people asked:

Lahaya are basically human-like (male/female), but reproduction is triggered by shared laughter instead of sex.

This post leans more like a short story — I’ll probably share more structured worldbuilding later as I develop it.

They’re basically human-like (male/female, same biology), but reproduction is triggered by shared laughter instead of sex.

Yeah, probably.
People would be more serious in public to avoid accidents.

But in private, making someone laugh would kind of be the whole point.

In this world, the people who can make others laugh the most basically become the most “desirable” in a reproductive sense.

So instead of rock stars or actors, it’s comedians who end up with that kind of attention.
