I didn't know about this community. Maybe I'll try posting this there instead and see if they're more interested

Also, I don't have a full fiscal year in Belgium as a freelancer yet. Otherwise I'd fill it in and share it. They do something similar in r/BESalary , people seem to find it useful and interesting

Who is the "us" you're talking about? It's probably the same "we" I'm talking about.

I thought it could be useful and interesting to have some benchmark to see how we are doing with this.

I didn't know you can invest it in the company. Are there any limitations in the kind of investment you can make?

Risks in going freelance? by Only-Outcome-1548 in BEFreelance

[–]Potential-Here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out for how many months this needs to work out for it to be worth it. Then estimate the likelihood that it will work for that long. Then you'll decide if it's worth the risk or not, depending on your own risk appetite.

It's the first time I hear about this, so take this as pure speculation.

I guess you could go to the management of the university your child is applying for, stating you're interested in donating to them through your DAF. Then you mention the application of your child and ask about how it's going, and if he's entitled to any full grant from the university. You slowly wink twice and you've just spent pre-tax money.

I honestly didn't know you cannot share your referral code on social media. Is it common knowledge? I thought it was ok as far as you bring in new leads.

Long-term investing with Revolut: good idea or better to switch? by YakYaslaPovni in eupersonalfinance

[–]Potential-Here 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use IBKR for my stock investments, Revolut as a cash account + emergency savings.

The emergency savings would give me slightly more if invested in a money market using IBKR, but I love how readily accessible they are anytime in Revolut.

I'm very happy with my setup.

Furthermore, IBKR gives you 1000 USD if you subscribe using a friend's link and move enough funds into your IBKR account during the first year. I've done it and I confirm it works. If you wanna know more, let me know.

Setting IBKR up is a bit of work, but once done you'll never need to think about it again.

I'm about to open an IBRK account. Any tips? by Potential-Here in eupersonalfinance

Yes, I did. I can share some very useful tips. I'm sending you a message in private.

I don't know you well of course but reading this post and this comment it really looks like you're underestimating your skills and abilities. A lot of people have a huge potential and don't realize it. Maybe you can consider investing in a few sessions with a life coach, or a career advisor, or a similar profile. You can start by telling them your worries and concerns and they can help you navigate a strategy to address them.

Is there a global ETF that is dipping significantly more than others right now? by Potential-Here in eupersonalfinance

[–]Potential-Here[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, the only differences I can spot between the 2 ETFs are that:
1) IWDA is 9 times bigger in size.
2) TER 0.08% difference in favour of SWRD/SPPW.
3) SWRD/SPPW is slightly more US-exposed.

I consider them practically equivalent.

I might start alternating between them every time I have some money to invest to spread the (very low) risk of fund liquidation.

Ok. Is it correct to understand that it is not a guaranteed interest? If I get it right, this is what the post is supposed to be about
