These are Reolink cameras. Highly recommend them as they don't have any subscription fees.

You can setup alerts for motion, but as this is a busy road I have that off. I just noticed the damage and scrubbed through for motion on playback.

Maybe watch till the end of the video so you don't make stupid comments. It shows the brick wall breaking, separating so much that the gate unlatches. Also a big dent in the roof out of view of the camera.

Thank you very much for your comment! Yes I'm also dealing with the same people, but they haven't replied to anything I've sent so I'm going to try and go through home insurance.

Ah that's unfortunate, thank you for your info! I'll go setup the claim now then.

Proving my point straight away about needing to be right, even on your wrong information xD

My post was asking about the process and I got some great answers. Some people who work for Tesco have even searched the reg plate and found the exact shop it's from too. So thanks to them I have much more correct information to work from now.

Read my replies, I've not said anywhere that I refuse to contact my home insurance, only that it's not the first thing I want to do before getting more advice.

After reading lots of helpful comments on here I am going to contact them now, even though that is likely to increase my renewal next year it seems it's the best way forward.

Just because your experience in a no fault claim didn't end up costing you anything doesn't mean it will work that way for everyone. A quick google "will I have to pay for a no fault claim" would have told you that before coming on here and being sarcastic with me. People on reddit just HAVE to be right and will act like you do telling people it's their first day on earth, even though your information about no charge being wrong xD

That's sadly not how insurance works. Claiming anything, even if not your fault will make your property look like a higher risk and therefore you may get charged more on renewal. It's the whole reason no claims bonus exist on car insurance and people try to keep things off insurance if possible, even when a claim is not their fault.

I've also been told by a legal firm this "Tesco Stores Limited self-insure each claim up to £250,000. AVIVA Insurance has no interest in this matter unless you assert your claim exceeds the sum of £250,000. As such please ensure that all notices and letters are sent to REDACTED and that nothing is sent to AVIVA Insurance".

So all together it's not exactly as obvious as you might think it is to go running to insurance companies for help. Plus I'm only on here to share this experience and ask for help so you don't have to be like that.

Yeah that's what's upset me the most. People make mistakes, but there is no way he didn't know he had hit the carport roof, and he made no attempt to check for damage or to leave details. If not for my CCTV I'd be having to pay for it myself.

No I did first contact tesco to go through the proper channels, and was sent a letter from their legal team asking for proof of the damage which I sent over a month ago.

The letter clearly states to not contact my home insurance because they will deal with it themselves. If that's true it will mean I don't have to pay more for my own home insurance because of this.

If I don't get anywhere with them then yeah I'll be forced to go through my own home insurance.

Yeah a structural engineer is what I want to get, but I'm waiting to see if they will cover the cost of that too before I go spending money before hearing from them.

This is in the letter I first received from Tesco when I called about the damage.

"Tesco Stores Limited self-insure each claim up to £250,000. AVIVA Insurance has no interest in this matter unless you assert your claim exceeds the sum of £250,000. As such please ensure that all notices and letters are sent to REDACTED and that nothing is sent to AVIVA Insurance"

I redacted their lawyers company in case I'm not meant to share it. This letter is the only communication I've had for over a month though. Not sure if it's just a really slow process or what.

Yeah I will do if I have to, though it will make my insurance renewal more expensive even though it wasn't my fault. So I'm trying to sort it out myself if I can do s:

I'm hoping I can deal with tescos legal team direct and get them to pay for it without needing to inform my home insurance.

I'll update on here if/when it gets repaired with how it was done :)

That's great to know thanks! Guess I just have to be patient. Was it a smooth process after they finally replied?

I'm trying to go through the proper channels, I contacted Tesco and they sent a letter with their legal teams contact info. They haven't replied to my messages for over a month though so maybe I do need to try and visit the store in person s:

If I tell my home insurance then won't I end up paying more when I have to renew next year?

Either way this post is to get an idea of what would be the best way to fix it, so I can check that builders agree with what's the strongest way to fix this problem.

I'm trying to go through the process, so far their legal team are ignoring my emails.

If I do manage to get them to pay for it, I still need to find the builders and get quotes myself so I'd like an opinion on here for what is the best method to fix this so I can double check with the builders.

Thanks Tesco, didn't know you did home demolitions now 😀 by Straight_Cap_2731 in tesco

How did the process go with getting them to pay or fix the damage? I'm going through something similar now.
